for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Check post 975. I know AMD probably has the FX4100 and FX6100 as salvage parts, but TBH,could they just have done the core disabling so to get a better set of reviews in the first place?
I am sure they could have sold the salvage parts under a different name.
Edit!!
It also seems that in lightly threaded applications,a single thread is not running in each module!!

We already covered that one That's two out of four heavily threaded tests (in the Hexus review, that is) where FX beat i7.
Of course, if you're doing video encoding the i7 has quicksync, which is a lot faster than any processor doing multicore grunt work. But so does every other sandy bridge iX processor...

Haven't AMD said that in lightly threaded applications it's actually better to load modules fully and then gate / park the other modules, as that allows more TDP to be dedicated to turboing the working modules? That's why the Windows 8 scheduler gives a performance improvement in lightly-threaded loads.
Or was the typo that you don't get a thread in every core in heavily threaded workloads? Because that seems unlikely... EDIT: OK, I've gone back and checked the ninja moose edit. See above.
Well, "call me nuts and send me to KP land" but I just ordered an 8120 to have a play with
Worse case scenarios: I punt it on at a small loss or throw it in one of my servers...

It means even for Piledriver to be a sucess it would need to be released when Win8 is out. These issues seem less problematic under Linux as Phoronix has tested a 2.5GHZ Trinity sample and it was better under Linux than a 2.9GHZ A8-3850! OTH,AMD failed by not sending any Bulldozer samples for review.
Hopefully more people will do the core test, but TBH if that article is accurate it seems at least under Windows 7 their way has issues. Some of those IPC increases are huge and would require a much larger increase in clockspeed than ATM. The rendering and video encoding IPC increases by 15% to 30% alone!!
I would suspect games would see better framerates too.

Anand's article probably has the most detail: basically if one thread depends on data from another thread they should be scheduled on the same module to make best use of the shared caches (so the second thread can grab the data directly from the shared L2 Cache, rather than heading back to the L3).
The fact that cache latencies have been increased to support higher clock speeds presumably makes L2 cache misses more damaging - and if idle cores can't gate to release TDP for Turbo Core, then Turbo Core can't ramp up to the higher clock speeds that should help negate those higher latencies. With the combination of higher clock speeds and lower latency data access, it's no wonder that improved scheduling can have a significant impact on performance...

Well after reading Anandtech I don't think it is worth the disruption & cost of swapping out my motherboard and RAM for one of these. Heres to hoping the X6 drops in price.
Mind you, didn't Hyperthreading have similar scheduling problems when it first came out?

Aria.....but if it even looks opened, it's going back under DSR...and only because I been keeping one of those £174 6950 twin forzrs they had on special yesterday in my cart all day while I made my mind up!
