.6 is the first release to seriously mess with view distances, destructable terrain and map size - a lot of players are reporting performance issues. The devs have said that the code in .6 is a bit "loose" and .7 will have some optomisation. It seems, that 2gb ram is "required" now for .6.

Anyway, i have been playing it for about 2 years and if you can find a good server (tactical gamer, IGI are nice) the experiance is considerable better than vanilla. No dolphin diving, no jumping around like an idiot - both tactics are hardcoded out and trying them will probably get you killed.

.6 has made the mod very popular at the moment but many of the new players seem to have avoided reading the small PR manual so fail to really get the major changes over bf2

I was on Al Basrah & EJOD Desert last night but it seems to be on all of them.

Sound is just the onboard card.

I had a feeling it was down to the upgrades over standard BF2. .5 and .6 BETA both worked fine.

I'm going to have another go with everything turned down, hopefully it wont harm the gameplay too much.

I keep going from 60FPS down to 0 and then back up again. It's almost like lag, but not.
I've tried lowering the textures to Medium (with a 2900XT i don't think i should have to ¬.¬) but i end up with random repeated shadows all over the place.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Are you overclocking your CPU at all?

BF2 is really fussy about CPU overclocks. GFX cards no, but CPU yes.

The mod is optomised for EAX sound (the developers did a lot of work on sound) - this might sound weird but try updating your sound card drivers or messing with the sound options in game. I had some odd "lag" like experiances which seemed to ease after doing both of the above...

Also, on my old rig running 1gb - the game was almost unplayable...

No, i dont get connection error warning.

    I'm currently not OCing anything.

I have EAX enabled, and the sound drivers are updated.

I lowered the terrain and texture details to medium. It still judders, but it seems that after about 20 minutes of playing it evens out and i get about 80FPS, almost completely flat. Maybe it's something to do with Terrain caching?

Yeah GG on Ejod last night, they fought back pretty hard, kudos to them for pushing us right back to the spawn point after we had them in the same position. Of course, had we been completely ruthless we'd of ended the game once we had them pinned in their base, but generally we'll hold off to allow the game to progress.

Of course, since we'd given them such a kicking earlier they were unable to make a difference with the huge gap with the tickets. Once I flanked them with an APC at North Desert and sent the iGi squad in we cleaned up enough to clean them out of tickets.

PR at its best that was.

Re: Anyone play Project Reality for BF2? :)

    New patch released - V0.61

    http://www.realitymod.com/forum/t28325.html

    * Servers can run localized versions of the server messages for kit request, rally points, commander assets, etc. (Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish and Swedish).
    * Ammunition can be obtained from rally points like intended.
    * Insurgency game mode has been overhauled.
    * Crewman kit does not have a wrench anymore.
    * Totally new parachute logic (depending on the time from opening until you hit the ground you take different amounts of damage - 30s for no damage).
    * Multiple map updates to improve balance and game play.
    * Commander trucks can now be requested at bunkers and firebases.
    * Scoring system updates to encourage teamwork and staying together as a squad.
    * Server stability and performance updates.
    Downloading mine now!

    I love the update.

100% stable, no glitching, no freezing and so on.

Got in with a great squad last night which really makes it worth while. Now all I have to do is try and remember their names
