Good news XP fans - there's a workaround allowing very high settings to be used on your venerable operating system:

Might hold off vista a while longer yet.

Everything maxed on (cpu on stock atm) i get about 11fps under Vista64 (with recommended drivers). The x64 exe doesn't run so i had to use the x86 one (!) interestingly.

On XP it's completely playable - all at 1600x1200 everything set high 'cept AA which is 2X only

Just like far cry this is a game which will run better in 12 months

The game though.. it's awesome. I've played the demo 4 times through on 'delta' difficulty. Love it. Preordered.

Thanks a lot for the tips on enabling vista-fx in xp - i'll try that. I'm going to stick vista 32 on here too to check performance.

What the hell, this is really shocking. I think this proves the point thats theres some kind of agreement going on with micro**** that people are being forced to use - upgrade to vista just to access the very high settings even tho they are clearly supported in XP.

Re: Crysis DX9/10 - Low/Med/High Comparisons: the worry is whether or not the DX9 version is purposefully crippled to make the DX10 version look better in comparison....
