On another note, Minecraft has stopped working. When I try to run the game I get a Java Platform SE has stopped working crash, so far havent been able to fix it.

i take it you're using the latest version of Java with the correct 32 or 64 program?

Yup, it was working absolutely fine then suddenly just stopped working without any warning.

Well, my latest project is a little bit of a flop. Trying to be clever and use a Wireles Redstone mod to make music, but it's rather laggy. Videoing it at the same time doesn't seem to help. Even OC'ing CPU briefly to do it still results in this: -

I might try and do it the more traditional way and see if that turns out any better.

I don't think there is any question we need to restart the world when 1.8 hits, they should really designate it v2.0 with the amount of stuff that is being added, cant wait.

Now with lyrics!

Ditched the wireless stuff except for a bit at the end for neatness. A lot less laggy, and I think the bits that are laggy were because of the draw distance and the game loading chunks. Wasn't too much hassle starting from scratch as the tune repeats itself a lot, so saved a lot of time thanks to MCEdit.

I had to use two pistons as you couldn't reach with just one. Although I did think of just leaving it out of reach as a tease.

I used Minecraft Song Planner to write the bits, and then it's just a case of transposing it into a level. The Song Planner can create a schematic from the tune, but it didn't work when I tried, plus it wasn't as easy to follow (well, for me at least). The only tricky bit was fitting it into the restrictive range of notes available, which required moving the whole song down a key (3 semi-tones to be exact). There's a couple of notes where I had to go an octave lower as it didn't quite fit in (only needed one more note on the upper end!).
