    We now have rail between:

    Castle roof <--> Tak tower
    Castle roof <--> Mob trap/farm

You will need your own minecart.

Feel free to add more routes and build a proper station on the castle roof

I added a plugin to try and control it, but it must not be working, will look into it again.

It's a plugin, and you should have permission... will look at that later too.

What's the general census on these plugins, apart from the Creepers one, although it DOES sound fun!

    Re: Minecraft?

Big thanks for adding me and sharing the IP.

I had a spare 45 mins last night so took a trek around the map checking everything out. Bit galling having to start all over again (I've been playing a LOT of SP) but when I've got some proper gaming time I'm going to get started.

Are there any ground rules on where one can place their home? Obviously right next to someone else's structure is a bit foolish due to mine shafts etc.

What about mining in someone else's mine, is that acceptable?

    Re: Minecraft?

Same question as above really - had a brief exploration last night, got lost in two different mines, died in someone's vertical flowing lava and admired someone's very organised chest collection.

Wasn't sure where to 'setup' my camp though, as per mycarsavw it's a bit hard to tell where's vacant

    Re: Minecraft?

You can set up wherever you like within reason, or claim a room in the castle (stick a sign by the door of your room).

The chests in the castle lobby contain materials for communal projects (railways, traps, shared buildings etc). That said, feel free to borrow that stuff for personal use, as long as you replace it later.

Chests in people's rooms are private.

There's a wheat farm in the castle basement if you need bread for cave exploration, just replant any wheat you harvest.

I don't think we have any rules specifically relating to other people's mines. My rule of thumb has been that if it's someone's man-made mine leave stuff alone, but if you break into a natural cavern that's shared with someone else's mineshaft that's a free for all!

Good advice. I've just got some Iron Ore so I'll replace the bit of Iron I borrowed earlier.

At the moment the [Private] lock function isn't working, which isn't a big deal, I imagine we are all trust worthy enough.

    Re: Minecraft?

Feel free to go around and help yourself to the mine/caverns below my place. I excavated a large area with lava pools, but be careful, there's usually slimes around there.

    Re: Minecraft?

There are caverns below the big castle, ladder down by the railway in the basement. I've explored a bit, but if you press F3 you can see there are mobs just the other side of walls so it looks like it's a small cave inside a bigger complex. Feel free to break through into the other caves and get exploring, just shut the door behind you to keep the castle safe and don't be stingy with torches as you go!

    Re: Minecraft?

The area under the main town is a good mess of mines and cave now, I kept breaking out into other peoples mines, that's why I upped sticks and moved my mining to the area across the water

I need to update this map, the big castle is to the west of allen's castle (number7) I built a mini port at the foot of the big castle, sail straight west you'll see the lighthouse I made.
There's a port there, I built a house there, there's caves and some very impressive landscape over there.

I've been slowly building up tnt to go and do some blast mineing

    Re: Minecraft?

Yes, a word of warning, the area underneath the two castles is mostly a huge mob farm (which I think isn't working very well at the moment, but meh...). As for where to set up your own home/mine etc, maps are infinity big, so go where ever you like.

Ofc you will want to be near the rest of us, but as long as you stay within a few mins walk of the spawn point you should be OK to get back to your stuff should you die.

    Re: Minecraft?

I've made the pressure pads work for the Castle, but if you don't want them working just destroy the red stone circuit underneath.

I see some people have made a tunnel system (I got lost in it last night) Do most of the tunnels lead to other peoples buildings? I want to get safer access to other areas at night, there is a rail network in progress, but for now I'd imagine it's quicker to tunnel through.

    Re: Minecraft?

I suggest an underground railway system leading in different directions from the spawn point, we can then build along the rail lines above ground and tunnel around it. If we can make it so we somehow spawn at the centre, pick up a mine cart and ride to our bases, we should be safe and able to get back to our death chests in time.

It will take a lot of work and we can just in one direction for now and see how it goes. I might use a backup of our map and load it into mcedit (or whatever it's called) to find a good location. The builds we have so far can be on one route, then we can build the other way if need be. Or 3 other ways and have a main station with tracks leading north, south, east and west.

    Much work in that though.

    Re: Minecraft?

Allen, is there any way to make the area around the spawn point creeper proof other than building with obsidian? Obviously we want the spawn point in a safe location, but if it gets creeper damage only you can rebuild at the moment.

A fence with a well lit garden? Only spiders will get to it then.

I'll have to look into it...

    Re: Minecraft?

Allen I would like the netherfire mod, as with that I can redo the mob trap, create a push button mob oven

edit: oh yes someware to the south east off my map there's a lava pool on the surface.
I know because I was out looking for pumpkins, got lost, darkness fell so I tried to take shelter above it (I built out a walkway above it) but I got knocked off into the lava by a skeleton.
I tried to get back but couldn't find it and had to spend a night on top of pillar I quickly built.
