    Re: Minecraft?

Where can you get reliable and accurate information about this mod pack, Mindcrack? Everywhere I look for information it's wrong. I have wasted hours of my time reading duff information and lots of mats making items/machines that I don't need, or don't help me get what I need.

I know you can use the UI to show me recipes, but the icons change every second so I don't know if it means I can use any of them, or certain patterns... It also doesn't tell you how to get raw materials like Aluminium for example. It seems the only way is pulverising Bauxite Ore for a 10% chance of Aluminium Dust, the rest of the Bauxite Dust doesn't appear to have a use (despite someone saying you can put that in an Industrial Centrifuge to get more Aluminium Dust, but it doesn't work).

    Re: Minecraft?

Yes I know what you mean, I was going to make solar panels, but the recipe is changed it's now using silicon cells, the recipe shows to make them I need to put liquid silicon into empty cells with a liquid transfuser . . . but not how you make liquid silicon to put in it.

It's a problem with mod packs, because it's half a dozen mods or more which has been adapted and combined, the mods themselves get updated and changed then often changed again to make them work.

Aluminium is made from dust in a blast furnace, you get some pulverising Bauxite ore and then the remaining bauxite dust has to be put in an Industrial Electrolyzer to turn it into aluminium dust according to the wiki http://feed-the-beast.wikia.com/wiki/Bauxite_Dust

The big worry is that there are two aluminium from two different mod and I don't think they are interchangeable so the stuff you get from bauxite might not be the right one, it's rather confusing.
Ok by the wiki Aluminium Ingots are the ones you want and they come from bauxite, so that is the right one, why to do have to make stuff so complicated?

Ok more reading of the wiki it looks like it's an addon called "greg's tech" which changes industrial craft making it more complex.

If I find anything more I'll let you know.

edit: oh and no machine is wasted, I'm pretty sure you need the centrifuge for solar panels

Bah it's also missing Pneumatic Generators for turning build craft energy into industrial craft energy.
energy is becoming a real pain in this modpack

I so want my teleport pipes back

    Re: Minecraft?

I'm enjoying it a great deal!

I really wish there were better documentation, but I'm slowly puzzling stuff out and making mistakes along the way.

I finally have an automated power system completed, it's making all the power I can use, and can be easily scaled up as I need more. It's great to finally get something working.

I'm very impressed with the mining turtles. That's something I'll be playing with.

But then there's so much other stuff. There's a whole other realm, The Forbidden Forest, packed with new mobs and bosses. We may need to organize a trip to fight a Hydra..

    And Thaumcraft, which looks awesome.

    And so many more machines...

They look very useful. Even just playing around with the built in tunnel and excavate programs was useful, let alone writing custom programs!

Mining turtles depositing their finds into a chest. Sorting turtles moving stuff from that chest into categorised chests and auto feeding the pulverizer/furnace etc. How about a "3d printer" turtle - place materials in a chest and tell the turtle to build a pre-programmed building or 5 using the materials in the chest. Place a glowstone block to signal it needs attention perhaps (low fuel, out of materials etc).

Also now I've got a jetpack I don't think I can ever go back to vanilla, although some aspects of gregtech are just plain annoying. Apparently there's a gregtech.cfg file on the server that lets you toggle IC2/gregtech recipes selectively, how long until TeePee gets frustrated and gives us some IC2 recipes back!

    Re: Minecraft?

Gregtech adds some nice stuff, but with the expensive recipes on, it makes it extremely complicated to get a good start. What I like about all this IC2, BC, RP etc is making the machines, and lots of them, to get them working together. With expensive recipes, it can take days to get to the good stuff.

I understand the idea behind it, draw the game out a bit longer, I just don't like being forced to grind for stuff that isn't exactly "easy" to come by in the first place.

    Re: Minecraft?

I sort of like and dislike greg's tech, it keeps frustrating me, I try to do something I know how to do only to be hamstrung by changed recipes.
I was planning on going into bluelectricity because I don't normally use it and I know there's a couple of really cool things in there.
But greg has changed the brass recipe to use zinc & copper instead of tin & copper, only source of Zinc is Sphalerite Ore which is only found in the neather.

Damb you greg, you will not beat me!

Am i just the only one that loves to build massive complex structures. None of these mods lark, (though I have dabbled in IC2)... Still it's a nice time sink!

    Re: Minecraft?

We still do that, just the mods allow you to make a reason for your massive structures, I love build crafts pipes for that, having a giant network of pipes and blocks flying along in them.

On other matters, ok the Sphalerite Ore was no where near as painful as I though it would be, it's plentiful and unlike the neather ore of tekkit it doesn't explode when you mine it and doesn't annoy pigmen ether, so a quick trip brought me back two stacks

I'd just got my blueletric stuff going when I think the server crashed, I got disconnected and now it's saying no response from the server ip.

It was probably temporary, as I just tested and was able to connect.
