Infact, Id say valve would get MORE money, if they just sold them seperatly, as addons, for £5 each. I know that definatly a LOT more people would buy hl:s, dunno about dod:s (I didnt really like dod1 THAT much)...

DoD:S will be sold separately as it is published by Activision and not VU.
I'm not sure about HL:S though...

The wise option would of been to purchase either the Silver or, if you were feeling rich, Gold package via steam.

    /me cuddles the silver package

does anyone know of any modders\websites where they are updating the models and textures for hl:source with better quality 1s rarther than the orginals.

tried abit myself and managed too get some hl2 models in there, such as barney, (the guard) but it doesnt work properly, he just stands there blinking.

HL:S has the ability to be HL2

The charecters have real life physics, similar to the charecters in HL2
    The water
    Shading Lighting
    are all HL2
even the flashlights is set up like HL2 to project bright light close to bright objects and dim on dark
it uses the extended textures pack you got when playing blue shift,so no upgrade on the models has been done.
however the game play is still the same as HL so it produces a old school game with nu school, physics and shaders.

i will take some shots to night of HL:S and post if any one is interested.
    Dude

oh that's a MUCH better comparison

it's a LONG time since i played with the dreamcast model pack, had forgotten just how much better it looks than the regular models - surprised the quake 1 engine can cope!
