I really need to dig this back out again - but dont laugh..... I keep jumping (as in out of my skin)
Currently (when I last played and couldnt take the jumping any more) at the level where Ive knocked the power out and have to wait in a drain..... yeah right - as if im going to do that.....
How pants is that - a 32 year old who wont play a game because he keeps jumping

yeah i've been reading around about the different rendering options, not sure about cartoon, have tried cool and superior...will try paradise tonight. its a clever idea to do something like that in a game
how far am I? right, well...fought my was through the treehouse level, scared my self silly. just fought myself round a fortress type thing (over some cool rope bridges) and got into the underground section...where there are a fair few 'things' living.
I loved the bit over the bridges though - sniping from the ruins over the chasm was cool, I kept getting shot by a rocket launcher tho until I realised he was above my head (doh!). just so involving this game.
I never played halflife - as I mentioned before, I only saw it over the shoulder of my bro - and this is way WAY better.

I've still not tried any of the other games that came with the budget game pack yet (best buy i've done I think!). there's XIII, Splinter Cell: pandora tomorrow, prince of persia, starsky and hutch and lego racer2 (woohoo!). splinter cell looks cool as does P of P and starsky&hutch (for entertainment value) but not sure about the others though.

Still havnt finished Farcry yet and got it when it was released last year, completely stuck at the start of Volcano where you go into a big room and loads of swat type blokes come out and I keep getting killed. Tried many a time to get past that bit and just keep getting killed so got bored with it

compared with the rest of that level that bit is a peice of cake

Basically the best tactic to use is to just lob rpg's from the OICW assult rifle or use your rocket launcher and with any luck you'l pick up very little damage.

Its just a nightmare getting past it, had no probs at all getting through it so far then just swamped with this. There is loads of blokes there and hiding behind stuff dont seem to work and I just get slaughtered. Might stick a cheat in to get past that little bit as I have given up on the game temporarily

I have to say having completed the game about 5-6 times i have never put it on any higher than the easiest setting. Its more than enough of a challenge for me- i struggled in a fair few sections on easy mode.

i'm running it in the middle setting for difficulty. didn't want to pwn the game too much too soon. though perhaps I'm regretting it as I get mauled for the umpteenth time after a save spot.
I found lobbing flash grenades or just grenades works wonders

It took me a couple of plays to get the feel of the game, like making use of different firing modes being tactical, going in different directions and such. The alternate routes make the fort a complete walkover. One sees you skip 2/3's of the mercs.

I just found out today you can swap seats while in a vehicle (shift iirc) its not much use really but may aswel.

Dont forget to shoot the guy wearing the cap first (when attacking a squad) with the radio because the mercs will then not fight as a team (hes the captain or something)

Ferral after that section there is about 10min more gameplay maybe and an even more impossibly frustrating section before the end. Its worth finishing of course due to the blatent plot twist that still caught me out

You need to watch more horror/thriller films - I guessed it close to the beginning
