Re: Name your favourite Space Sim

Recently I'd have to say Freelancer. I've tried X3 and X2 but to be honest could not get into those. Second to Freelancer is definatley Wing Commander 3, I loved that game, spent hours and hours on it I also liked Wing Commander Prophecy, which I tihnk was the last Wing Commander game to be released.

Frontier Elite II and the original Elite were my personal favourites. I think I enjoyed Frontier a bit more because of the Military jobs you could take on.

Have they stood the test of time and are still playable today? For me no. Some still play them but I haven't got the time myself unfortunately. I fancy trying Eve Online but if it was really good I would be scuppered I with too little time to spend on it. It sounds right up my street so I daren't risk it.

Freelancer is a brilliant game and has stood the test of time pretty well it seems.

X3 terran conflict is good fun too. The learning curve is now somthing more like climbing K2 rather than doing a 3 legged hopscotch up K2 as it was in X3 reunion . It has a slightly useful manual and the menus are easier to get use to but its still dam hard.

It's a toughy, although I'd have to go for Freespace 2 although I still play Homeworld 1 & 2 from time to time. Also Space Rogue on the C64 was a classic
