Out of all the space sim games you peeps have played what has to be your fave. Mine has to be Freespace 2, I have not really seen anything new on the space sim horizon for a while now which is a shame.

See Sig.
The Freespace's were great and Freelancer was superb, but in an arcade way.
Privateer 2 stole vast amounts of my time but predictably Elite is still my favourite.
Im a big fan of X:BTF, not played much X2, mainly due to having a crap pc when it came out, and not really having the time now.
X2 had like a near vertical learning curve (line...or wteva) but Freespace was awesome
X2: The Threat. I've only tried a couple of others (Freelancer I think), but X2 was the one that I liked - plenty of stuff to do! However, in X3, I would like to see:
-Better combat
-Better storyline
-Better motivation to actually get the big ships and stations
-More dynamic universe
Fortunately, most of those seem to be on the checklist... it's nice to know that Egosoft listen to their fans!
"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."
hmm... Its a cross between XWA, TF and Allegience (which is free now at freeallegience.org)
There really has been nothing of intrest to me since Freelancer (that got boring after doing the story). I loved starlancer and Freepace 2 but honestly I cannot think of any other decent games that have come out since. I tried Eve but to be honest it was dull, very dull Trading should be important but it should also be possible to get in the game and start fighting, know what I mean? Also I tried X2 and that really just wasnt intuitive enough.
What I would like to see if a game where you can comand fleets and fly the ships maybe in a battlezone kind of way as well as having the building and trading and maybe even design of ships. Sort o a homeworld crossed with free lancer if you will.
HEXUS FOLDING TEAM It's EASY
What you want is X3, if you belive the hype, which im inclined to since they did such a good job with X BTF and x2Originally Posted by G4Z

favourite space sim must be Elite played it on acron electron (showing my age) BBCB and PC. Follow ups first encounters and frontier OK. Freelancer was good and there are some excellent mods but nothing like elite.
Homeworld, loved that game.
The Freespace games were excellent!
You can now download Freespace 2 for free if I am not mistaken.

Really? I'll go look.
For me it was Freelancer, however I never finished it as I got dead far into it then lost my savegame in a format so never went back to it. Personally prefer the arcadey ones rather than the sim type like Elite.
Also still have a first edition version of Tachyon, bought it because Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead fame done the voice of the main character, must admit I really like it and it quite arcadey also.
