This debate ends with one word - Goldeneye !
"Different people prefer different things" shocker!
Aaaand coming up in the next few weeks: "Different people have different colour hair", "Some dogs have longer tails than other dogs" and "Cake is not the same thing as 1980s economic policy"
I truely SUCK with a controller playing FPS's - Goldeneye is the only game I ever got the hang of with a controller.
However, if I get an XBOX 360 I'm sure after playing training levels enough and the actual games I'll pick it up.
Like someone said, sole purpose of a console is games, PC's are multi-purpose so I think I need a new console as my PC is getting dated and I'm being left behind.
You pay £300 for a decent graphics card. Can get a whole console for that!
Would his £500 custom PC be able to render games as well as the XBOX 360 does with the game developers working/perfecting the graphics and physics to the consoles capability? With developing games for the PC you have the cater for different hardware, so surely not going to be as good as perhaps it could be?
If I'm not mistaken, MS have taken a considerable loss on the XBOX 360?
no doubt, but all the console does is play games, im saying the major benefit of a pc is you can do everything and neally anything on it these days which to me makes it worth the extra, i mean, in that same issue of cpc they found out that it was about a 700 quid pc thats the equivilent of an xbox.
but i dont think i would want one, strange because i happily spend 300 quid on a gfx card
I'd rather have a medium spec'd PC for playing counter-strike on, chatting to friends, surfing the web, dtp, playing music, downloading etc and a console purely for gaming! =]
yeh i love cs also, as u know its just not the same on a console and never could be thats why i love pcs.
Meh, you'd get used to it you big girl!
With graphics cards like the 7900GT for £120 (BF2 @ 1920x1200 @ 60fps), I don't see why a good gaming machine couldn't be built for say £400 to compete with a Xbox360, and it would do all the other stuff too.
issue is you have to be computer savy and spend the time to do it - that is always the catch. You lose some of the fun of true Plug'n'Play fun.
Still, even though I spent 1 month completing Halo on the Xbox, I still hated the controller after 1 hour back on CS:S. I couldn't imagine playing multi-player fps with a gamepad. Halo was OK, because of the gameplay, etc.
has to be pc ftw. Cant stand to see anyone play on a console and was even looking into the idea of a mouse keyboard combo for the 360. Theres even a petition to go to microsoft to enable games with mouse + keyboard capabilities!
