It's really pathetic how the newspapers fuss over skinny models, they have there scapegoats, and then the people they like.

For instance there always knocking Posh Spice (rightly so), but then some other sad celeb who's barely a stone heavier, they'll call curvy, or some crap lol.

I agree totally with Slick, you don't have to choose, it's really not difficult to be average, or a decent body size, for your height. Im lucky because i have a really fast metabolism, but if i didn't, id exercise more. You can easily eat 3 decent meals a day if you exercise properly.

As for these models who starve themselves to death, well it's pathetic, and i have no shympathy for them at all. The worse part is, sad little schoolgirls look up to them.

Then its equally pathetic of people who over-indulge and binge eat and weigh over 20-stone? Clinically over-weight is just as bad as clinically under-weight. Its a strange one nonetheless, as the media seem to be concentrating on skinny people, yet people still seem to be getting fatter!

That said, i hate the media

Isn't it something like 50% of British people are overweight? Or 60%? I remember it being either half or more. It's quite a scary fact, and nowadays it's so easy to over-indulge in pleasantries as most shops etc. are just filled with them.

Orange Lucozade is my worst habit, so bad for you, but it's so good!

the under weight/over weight stats take no account of your health or fitness.

All pro rugby players (and a lot of other profesional athletes) are obese according to that silly chart you see in doctors etc. this does not mean they are puting their health at risk, quite the oposite as they are very fit and healthy despite their size (or perhaps because of it?)

as i said, it's all lies and stats

Actually this does worry me, as a father 4 four image conscious daughters, two being teens, I can see the effect the media has on them first hand.

And body image concerns me too, been a gym regular for over 20yrs. Well got to offset being such an ugly 'tard

    Dam you media!

Same. My housemate eats NO fruit or veg at ALL. His diet consists of rustlers burgers, tins of beans and stuff, and haribo/chocolate. He does no excersise, yet he went to a uni health test and scored perfectly in everything...I really really want to know how!
I'd have to admit I am one of those people. The thing is I had a really big appetite when I was 12 but as part as growing up I've just found it didn't matter whether I had 2 weeks of fatty food like KFC and chips my image stayed the same, High metabolism does have its downsides like when I feel like I'm boiling whilst everyone else is fine.

Mosherben, have you ever had your hormones checked?

You might actually have an over active thyroid. I know someone that has this.

I am a VERY healthy pesron, I weigh 12.5 stone (my weight fluctuates between 11 and 13 stone) and I'm also 6'1" and I also have a very fast metabolic rate so naturally, I agree with you.

I literally run EVERYWHERE; I run to work, I run to college, I run home from the pub after a night on the lash (I seriously hate walking which in my eyes is not a form of exercise, merely a socially acceptable excuse for something that is kind of like exercise).

However, I ALSO have a tightly crammed schedule; I have a plumbing course, an electrical course, work AND I have some AutoCAD work to do, the only days "off" I have, I'm either studying at home for my plumbing and electrical courses or doing some autoCAD work.

I should ideally be eating about four or five medium sized meals a day but given my schedule and my options I'm only able to eat one healthy meal a day the rest assuming I get to eat them are usually fatty fast-food meals but I still make the effort.

However, knowing this I don't wallow in denial, self-pity or blame others, I exercise... LOTS, as I've mentioned above.

This lack of time in the day is also a contributing factor as to why mothers etc. feed their children junk food.

Many mothers and fathers work longer hours to make end's meat, with less expendable income, less time to cook and buy healthier foods the only option is junk food which is cheaper and cooks quickly.

I personally believe schools MUST provide physical exercise like PE and Games for a minimum of 3 hours a day and on completely different days in the week AND an hours swimming session mid-week.

As for the sexing a fatty or a skinny, that is grossly unfair (gross in all contexts ) to expect someone to choose between the two; I'm rather particular with my type of lady, I prefer to go for the personality.

My girlfriend is like me fluctuates bewtween just right (as in curvy and has bumps in the right places) to slightly chubby and I mean slightly but even more charmingly adorable and is just...yeah...erm...

I'd like to go on, but its time for some exercise

Ahah, someone just like me. I'm a sweaty sod too

Seriously though, I was fortunate to have some tests run at the Executive program at UCLA which is in....errr....LA, and it seems that if you're someone with a high metabolism and high body temperature, you've got all sorts of advantages. You clear colds and other viral infections VERY quickly. You don't get fat, and you'll not start putting on middle age spread until mid forties (unlike regular folks, which is late 20s onwards). Your heart should traditionally be very strong, so unless you're daft and do stupid stuff like smoke 40 a day for 40 years, you shouldn't have to worry about heart disease. Your general fitness levels should be very very good, the example given was that you should be able to go from doing no exercise to doing regular 10 mile runs in about two weeks. There were advantages but I can't remember them.

So next time you're sweating buckets, think of the upside to it all.

Or Funkstar could be right, and you need to go see a doctor.

    And last but not least....
