taking a child to the pub is worse than smoking tbh

Basically, we should have smoking pubs and non smoking pubs. The choice should be with the landlord.

BTW....For all you non smokers....when we start giving up because its banned are you
ready for the enormous hike in income tax
Also, although smokers supposedly use the NHS more, they also pay more into it through the taxes on cigarettes to keep it going.

Hahhaha I knew I'd touch a nerve! Im not saying I want you all to breathe it in but why should we not have an area inside as well?

now I understand most you now think Im a ****** but its not just this, every single week there is one more thing we cant do, or shouldnt do or are banned from doing. Before long bubble wrap and cotton wool are going to be conpulsary atire before leaving the house.

I complety respect you veiws about people like me but I would like to see a bit more of a choice. rather than it being "forced down my throat" as I belive someone said. We all make choices.

I would love to have it seperated so the people that do not smoke may bring the children etc.. it would be the best way. But a complete ban, I just dont get.

The fact that smokers areas are no longer going to be around is damn crayz. I agree people that done smoke should have somewhere smoke free, but if they have a choice why the hell dont I?

I know the risks and that I smell, bad for me blah blah etc.... and I dont care.

    As the late Bill Hicks once said ;

“I smoke. If this bothers anyone, I suggest you look around at the world in which we live and shut your *%$^*&' mouth.”

    End rant/

    (gets ready for flamming)

Yeah, nice attitude there... being a non smoker, I think your attitude is a little self-centered, and although i'm fine in a room of 1 or 2 smokers, being in a pub is another story...

But anyway, fact of the matter is... YOU HAVE TO GET OUTSIDE, LIKE IT OR NOT.

    Boo hoo

what annoys me is that private clubs have been forced into this as well - i dont smoke but places like working mens clubs are going to suffer alot

Ignoring what my opinion or anyone else's opinion may or may not be; you're going to find it virtually impossible to do that unless you do it in your own or someone else's house, because pubs and bars aren't going to want to get fined!

Meh, if labour stay in tax goes up anyway (it just did) and I'd rather people lived longer even if it cost me more (which is why we have an NHS and all contribute).

The majority want it that's why it's happening. It's a fact of life in a democratic society and in this case the negatives (you having to nip out for a fag) don't outweigh the positives (people not dying sooner than God intended).
Some people would like to drive at 80mph past schools, but as the majority of us can see that'd be a rather bad idea - and so you can't.

Ok, fair enough you have made a good point there. Agree with me or not, I still cant not help feeling unhappy at the decision.

Im sorry if everyone here thinks badly of me because of it, But that does not change the way I feel or the way I will express it.

I see I am the minorty but I will continue to feel this way no matter what. And im sorry if I offended you in anyway. I must be a very selfish person....but Im happy with my veiws and do not take back anything I have said.

Damn straight! In the UK people just don't like having kids around when they're socialising (quite sad tbh). In countries where they do like having kids around, families are stronger, and there's less fear of teenagers, and teenage crime is less.
I love spending time with my kids in a social environment.

Anyway, back to smoking: uh, erm, it sucks.

To all those saying "I'll never stop, me!" - I truly hope you do: I used to work at Guy's, and the worst part about the job was having to see people regularly smoking through incisions in their trachea's, whilst standing outside the Clinical Oncology dept.

I understand why you feel the way you do and i'm not offended by it at all - it's reasonable for you to have an opinion and to express yourself by all means Sorry if I came across as though i was picking on you - I was just debating the issue, nothing more Cheers!

Well lets agree we differ very much on our veiws and I do see all your points. I just feel everyone that does not smoke has a voice and people that smoke do not (No word play intended!) And no i didnt think I was being picked on I knew i was going to cause some conflict but just wanted to voice my opinion, no matter how wrong it may be.

    Cheers
