    Extra large, pink parking spaces

    http://www.shoutwire.com/viewstory/5...ing_Deter_Men_

Traffic officials in the Swiss city of Bern are hoping to stop men grabbing the extra large parking spaces reserved for women drivers by painting them pink, and adding flowers and other feminine symbols.

The council move comes because male drivers keep grabbing the reserved parking spaces for women, which are usually close to the car park exit and under video surveillance.

Bjorn Rohrbach, managing director of a parking lot in Bern, said: 'Legally, we can't stop men from using women's parking spaces. And telling them off didn't work either.'

He believes that the average male driver will be too embarrassed to use the pink parking spaces.

So, would you put it in the pink guys?

    Most certainly without any hesitation.

I'll not bother with a funny answer, someone else can do them.

Ah bugger, didn't realise they were held in the same regard as disabled and mother & child spaces.

My lovely other half has just got me down off my PC desk as I ranted "why do women get their own spaces when men don't?"

She tells me its cos they're under CCV surveillance so the lasses are safe at night.

    /calms down.

    To be fair...

    no....now I understand what they're for....no.

BUT...rather than paint them pink...maybe signposts telling men WHAT they're for would be better?

    Surely?

mmm, why should normal women (i.e. not mother & child or disabled etc.) have parking spaces reserved for them?
That's sexist, I demand reserved spaces for men - to be painted blue ...

I think it's ridiculous that women should get special parking spaces in the first place. Disabled is fair play, mother and child is kinda borderline, but women?! Come on.

This is stupid. It only makes sence if they planned to get the media attention, which they would not get by spending money on lighting/survalence for the whole carpark.

I wouldnt because it would be an embarrasment to my 'leet parking skillz'

although it peeves me off when I get a 'friendly reminder' at my local tescos for parking in a parent and child space when I go to do shopping...FFS its normally after midnight when i go and the car park is actually empty! its not much of a challenge to take the one next to me now is it?
