like i said it could be possible that he was frames man! plus they said they was shot not strangled and hanged from what the bbc said

I still fail to see how a man that pumps himself full of drugs, wears lycra and acts terribly in a badly produced stage show can be hailed as a legend though
It seems very sad really. Especially for the wife and son, of course. I wonder what the son felt as he was being smothered. Legend? Let's wait and see.
(Thanks Evilmunky)
Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet intakes.
If you didn't follow his career or appreciate his technical ability and passion then there's no point in you attempting to discuss whether he was a legend or not really.
I'm not a big fan of the pro wrestling product these days, but Benoit commanded respect EVERYWHERE he went.
Regardless of the arena and the age/gender of the fan, as soon as his music hit everyone was on their feet - and a man who had such an effect on people, entertaining fans almost every day of the year, regardless of problems in his private life and the horrific way in which he chose to leave this earth, will always be remembered in my eyes as a legend.
thats rather an ambiguous statement don't you think?
Charles Manson was an eloquent and impassioned speaker, people flocked to listen to him, long before the Mass Marketing boat left the dock - LEGEND!
Hitler was an artist, a respected man in Germany, who took a broken and defeated country to the pinnacle of world power - LEGEND!
Joseph Stalin ---- ok, i think you get the picture.
Lets put it this way, you know nothing of his personal life at all, his temperament or what he was really like, all you saw was the image that WWE wanted you to see, an image that is generally aimed at impressing 8-15 year old kids who beg their parents to pay for PPV events all over the world.
Did he organise charity events to feed kids in Africa and other third world countries? Did he save children from burning buildings or help abolish slavery? Did he invent a new planet saving fuel, allowing us to protect our environment and cut down on gaseous emmissions?
or maybe he fired himself full of steroids, hammily acted to poor and obvious scripts, did a few (albeit acrobatic) maneuvers in a wrestling ring and then allegedly went psycho.
whether or not he did kill his family, he really is not worthy of the accolade legend, because.....
wait for it
seriously, its worth it
wrestling is not real
I blame myself for coming back to GD.
It's sad that people who know so very little about the subject being "discussed" always seem to be the ones ramming their flawed and poorly informed arguments down other peoples throats.
It would be nice if any further replies could be a little more respectful of this tragic (if you'll allow me to call it tragic? Is that OK?) turn of events.
HF guys!
high five back atcha.
I used to watch wrestling back in the days of the Rock and Trish Stratus. I hated Kurt Angles balding dome with a passion.
However, the reality of it is, Dareos is right.
Plus, I wouldn't exactly call his argument "flawed and poorly informed".
Yes, in your eyes, he may be a legend, but to me, he was just an actor. However, whether or not he had legendary status or not is beyond the point of the discussion. The fact is he's dead, along with the rest of his family. The personal troubles that he must have been experiencing in order for him to take not only his own life, but the lives of his family must have been huge. Either that or he was just generally crazy.
Plus, GD is exactly that, general discussion and everyone's entitled to their own opinion and their freedom to express is however they wish within the boundaries of the forum rules. If you dont agree, its your problem.
I'm not trying to slate you specifically bertie, because I agree with you that the guy could definitely get a crowd going and people loved him. WWE will not be the same.
of course its tragic, 2 people have died needlessly, and apparently at the hands of a roid raged madman.
perhaps you should try looking beyond the glitz and glamour of a poorly disguised cash cow before calling people Legends.
and i don't ram anything down peoples throats, i do resent people making sweeping and ignorant statements however
poor show there bertie, its a shame you dislike the discussion aspect of a discussion forum. i dont think anyones views have been below at least a direct response rather than a sweeping statement

You have to remeber though these are Americans, they get excited quite easily especially over something they class a Real Wrestling, I must admitt I was quite amused when watching wrestling with my firends but typical American shows with everything soo dramatic.
Dependant on the outcome he may become a legend but for the wrong reasons, either way think legend is a strong word for what he actually did.

Drug Abuse and the effects of it are rarely as cut and dried as it can appear on the surface, whether its steroids, amphetamines, stimulants etc, there is another thread on this forum regarding withdrawals and the pains associated with it, by people far more informed than myself on the subject.
I will say however, that sometimes the emotional aspects and the highs and lows caused by the use of steroids have been the cause of several tragedies, some quite close to home. Whether this was a factor in Benoits life I cannot say, but to all appearances of the WWE *stars*, most of them are certainly using if not...abusing
<admin hat off>Personally I'm not sure if Legend is quite the correct word to describe an athletic entertainer</admin hat off>
