I enjoyed the film and having not seen any of the original series I didnt know what to expect. I did however know to expect a few characters such as optimus prime and megatron. Sounds like your in the minority of people who didnt enjoy it for what it was. I found the part at the house quite funny for a while though it did drag out a bit to long.

Oh, just read the post above....You got a real rant on there, OK you were not keen for your own reasons, but hey, I think you may be getting a bit hot under the collar bout a fun film (bout transforming robots) - this isnt episode 1 all over again,
imo its a really good fun remake of a kids cartoon - and it doesn't try and take itself too seriously.
I went in with high hopes - in a good mood. And I came out thinking - why did they do this? Why the bog standard Independance Day, Short Circuit, standard Yank cheese? Why the poor attempts at comedy?

Yes it was novel to see the Autobots and Decepticons realised in amazing CGI, but every other aspect of the film was lazy, American cheese. Its pretty much the same plot and the same movie we have already been watching since the mid 90s, with some cracking big monster CGI.

It seems that you are all so bowled over by the CGI and novelty of seeing Transformers in 'real life' (which I also enjoyed) that you haven't realised the film itself is as poor as it could have been.

It was like watching Home and Away with Transformers in it.

Yup! he was £9.99 from Sainsbury but he's £8.99 delivered from Play so I think he's going to have to be bought

I think he does although I couldn't remember. Starscream seems to be one of the most low key character (after bonecrusher) in this film. Not seen him as evil as in the cartoons.

(SPOILERS) Well, in reality it'd be pretty hard to spoil this

Just watched this movie (actually, it's still playing), and it did 2 things no other movie has ever done to me -
    1. I could feel my brain cells dying while it played
    2. I could feel my heart sinking
My mate kept nudging me and saying things like
"I think this bit is supposed to be funny..."
    "Yeah, shame it isn't..."
Got 1 smile, when the Evil police car had "To Hurt and Enslave" (or something similar - I lost too many brain cells to remember correctly) instead of "To Protect and Serve" written on it's side.
Suspension of disbelief isn't needed here - just suspension of thought processes.
Michael Bey does it again - proving that you'll never go broke playing to the lowest common denominator
I never played with the original Transformers, and I never watched the Transformers cartoon spin-offs from the toys, but I'm pretty sure both had more depth and wit than this brain dead tosh.
But the chick with the tight T-shirt and short skirt was hot - should appeal to the prepubescent boys and Peter Pans that this movie is aimed at.
