    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

Of course they may not be dealing at all. My cellar smells like cannabis (it really honks actually) but it's just the stuff that was used to insulate the boiler room. I occasionally burn frankincense down there to cover it up, so I wouldn't be surprised if my neighbours thought I was smoking dope.

I don't know that I would act unless I was pretty sure. And whether it's legal or not, without evidence you are just causing trouble for no reason. I mean, they may just lend out a lot of DVDs.

    But it's probably dope.

I dunno. My life has been such that I have broken the local laws a fair amount (booze in the Middle East) and I'd have been a bit pissed off to have been shopped when I wasn't hurting anyone. Of course I'm not violent, with a penchant for pouring lighter fuel through the letter box of people who deprive me of my living.

I just added the evil grin, to point out I was kidding a bit

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

Sounds to me like they're dealing but if you're gonna report them, do it anonymously from a public pay phone or something (i.e. something is totally untraceable). Anonymity can be sketchy if you've got a particularly dense police force and the last thing you need is neighbours who have a vendetta.

Really depends whether you're bothered by the people who are turning up, I wouldn't want someone dealing on my doorstep personally. A few of my mates at Uni lived down the road from some dealers and unsuprisingly there were a lot of break ins on that street (of course this was Hull so there were break ins everywhere )

The problem is, these things can deteriorate quickly if your neighbours decide to expand the scope of their operation. The last thing you need are proper drug addicts knocking around your block of flats stealing anything that isn't nailed down.

    Your call....

How about contacting their landlord and getting him to say that he's noticed a lot of activity there?

Why would the landlord tell them who brought it to his attention unless he actually condones drug-dealing fom his property?

If the landlord is informed then he can decide what to do, whether to just go have a word or involve the police. At the end of the day they don't need to know that the landlord didn't notice all the cars popping around himself.

Seems a far more sensible idea to me than just bringing the cops around, and at the end of the day if the cops are called then it wasn't the OP who did it.

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

It's a tough one I gotta say. It does sound like something fishy is going on, but who knows? I guess the only worry I'd personally have if they were dealing is the people coming to buy "drug driving" round your local streets. What if.. they knocked over one of your neighbours/friends and you could have done something to stop it?

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

Although i'm not generally a believer that smoking cannabis leads to heavier drugs, it is often the case that cannabis dealers can get involved in other activities and sooner or later that may include prostitutes etc etc. This may or not be cannabis dealing, you've no real way of knowing, but it's also not relevant.

What you do is report it to Crimestoppers.
Police always like to gether intelligence on people for a while - if they've already got other suspicions, then this can help them do something. If it turns out not to be dodgy at all (and no-one else has reported anything) then nothing will happen. What police basically do is allocate their resources (ie staff) based on reported possible activites, so if you don't report it then that might not leave you with enough police next time.
