Post Office strikes - What alternatives for internation delivery

I need to send something reasonably important which has to be there within a couple of weeks max.
Normally I would go with international signed for with the post office but with whats going on its
    a bit risky.

Has anyone used any of the other compaines DHL fedex UPs or who ever from a personal service not
business use? I havent had a detailed look but it all seems business orientated.

How do they normally work anyway? do you take it to there nearest depot or they come and collect it?

I have to send an A4 document value less than £50 whats it likely to set me back.

FedEX do document delivery i know that. I think DHL do too.

Staple have DHL consession in their stores, so you should be able to just go down there and drop it off.

Costs will depnd on where you are sending to.

As far as I know theyve struck a deal and its business as usually, so it'll probably get there about 3 weeks late, torn, and covered in footprints

That said do you not have one of those post shops that have sprung up all over the place? I'm sure i've seen UPS pick up points in some staples stores too.

Thats actually really useful to know. I needed to send some important documents to Japan, and I've got a large staples quite close to where I live. Very handy.

There are also some brokers offering services through ebay, so it may not cost as much. I sent several 30kg type parcels to Spain for about £26 each. Not too bad.

I used DHL a few years ago to send a HUGE wedge of paper (about a ream) to Nigeria, cost less than £60.
