    Re: War On Scientology

I wholeheartedly agree with directhex on this. The whole thing is rediculously tiresome and boring, especially when there is delicious cake to be had.

Reminds me, I need to check how the protests on the 12th went.

No you can't PROVE anything about the bottom of the sea, the Loch Ness Monster and Santa could be having tea down there and you wouldn't know - you can, however, do the standard scientist, which is make a reasonable guess, then claim it as absolute fact until someone proves otherwise, or comes up with a better theory.

Bear in mind, Gravity, simple gravity, is what stands between Science and a unified theory.

We can't begin to proove that god's existance would make sense. The idea of a god dosen't awnser any questions to things that are puzzels simplified as "Why is the Sky Blue?" because God Made it Blue, who made god........
You seem to have an idea of what God is, or what he is meant to be, in your head.
An old man with a beard looking down kindly on us?

And what do you mean you can't prove that God's existance makes sense. Why is that a question?

No, the two are very seperate, the notion of god requires FAITH.This is the faith you've got. You say that a higher being created something. Who created that higher being, and the higher being who created him.
Ok, let's reverse this question into Science.

How did the universe start? (big bang?) Where did the matter that caused the big bang come from?
Who created that matter? And where did the forces that compressed them come from?

Why do you have "free choice", the notion is absurd as it has no rational basis for been so, and is directly eqivible to the FSM.
Good idea, let's use other people's arguments here.
Listen, I have better things to do than go over an argument that Hexus has been over in great depth over 10 times, let alone the rest of the world - Blind faith, Can't disprove, don't need to, science needs proof - yah yah yah. Thousands of people have had this argument over the years, thousands of people smarter than me, and smarter than you - it can't be proved or disproved so we're entering into a circular argument that has no point.

As soon as people start taking anything that has no rational basis seriously, bad things can happen was the point of my post
Yeah, like that Newton chap. Saw an apple fall from a tree and put it down to "invisible forces".
Lack of proof at the moment does not disprove anything .

As stated, we've done this a thousand times, using old theories written by other people (there are hundreds of pro and anti God arguments on wikipedia) proves nothing - the subject can't be proven it's a matter of faith and belief.

Either there's a greater being, or particles (how did they get there?) we crushed by forces (how did they get there) until they exploded. And based on that everything else can be proven to be "logical"

What? So every time a thread I'm hoping to read a proper discussion on, turns into a virtual copy&paste of all those threads from the last 12 months that I mentioned above, I should just stop reading it? I was expecting to read a discussion on Scientology. Not another IS RELIGION REAL thread.

Anyway, if you don't like my point... don't read it!

    Directhex put it perfectly:

Sorry guys - but as you saw, I called a truce earlier and tried to get it back on track, I've had enough of all these religion arguments, the first one was long interesting and in depth, and now it appears to be children posting with vitriol.

Either way, Scientology is dangerous, really dangerous.

    Re: War On Scientology

You know, I am getting to the point that I am going to abandon these threads because everytime they turn in this direction (and its inevitable) you get the same poeple piping up to say 'don't discuss that' 'its been discussed a million times before'.

Well, frankly I just don't see why that invalidates the thread and the peoples post. So what we could go over it a million times what differnce does it make if people are enjoying the debate?

Must say as well, Bazzlad your hypocrisy is astonishing, I notice you thanked hex for that post and then went on to continue it and you have been one of the main protagonists.

Id say more, but its 5pm on a Friday and I am off home.

You'll find I called a truce and suggested that the discussion got back on track, and I only RESPONDED to people from then on, and calling me a protagonist is hypocritical, I think you deserve that mantle as you were the person who started it.

I don't care - I was being made redundant at the end of the month, and have found a new and improved job which I start on Monday at an 11k pay rise.

So happy day - (Obviously God helped me out there.... JUST KIDDING - Don't start!)

No, because he hasn't ever been anything but, he hasn't said "we must stop this and start going on about scientology". He's not a hypocrit.

    This Relevent?

To Hex, i'd say its quite pertinant as to why someone would support scientology, and not denouncing its evilness by saying its hardly unqiue amonsgt religions.

But at the same time its not worth pushing people who belive in the church underground, an easy way to get sypmathy is to say your been unfairly vicitimised, hopefully they'll fail in what i like to call the Heather Mills Strategy

    Re: War On Scientology

The issue, G4Z, is that some people are unable to enjoy the debate due to how all the various debaters in the discussion choose to behave and the eventual tone of all sides in the discussion.

With respect to the relevance of this whole offshoot of a debate that we have just seen, I have to say that it really does not match up much. Anonymous supports the FreeZone movement, and cares not for the beliefs (besides the lulz factor that any and all beliefs may have) themselves. I can't be bothered to go into more depth here, but needless to say, Anonymous is all about personal enjoyment and fulfilment and that should say it all.

I have at least learnt to just let these little debates happen and let others get all wound up. I've better things to do with my time. So feel free to have these little debates, its not like it actually effects me much, after all.

I don't seem to be the only one who feels similarly, it seems.

Now, where did I put that cake... I'm sure I left a cake around here somewhere...

She's lying about the cake. Don't trust her!

Did anyone go to any of the protests? Apparently they turned up with some portable hi-fi's in Brum and RickRolled them for a while, according to someone I know who attended.

    Re: War On Scientology

do *NOT* admit to attending a protest. a google of your username will lead to enough information about you for the OSA to pursue you - they can and have used posts on internet forms as the start of a fair game lead. and that DOES mean in the UK.

I don't think any members of Anonymous who might be on here are likely to reveal it. I should think thats rule number 1.

One of my friends is a local reporter and she attended a protest to report on it, she said she interviewed some of them and they all said their name was 'Dave'.
