Nope
There are no real alternatives, although I'll probably be voting conservative again this year.
BBC NEWS | Politics | MPs' expenses claims are revealed
Ohhhhhh, when will it end?
Joking of course... this is outrageous, but it doesn't really total up to an amount that can have an effect on the economy...
that must mean per meal surely? hope he doesnt read this, he throws a mean punch! then again he's got enough weight behind itJohn Prescott's £4,000 food bill

Getting your TV licence paid, food bills and cleaning certainly should not be a 'perk' of the job.
No one forces them to take that job, they do it through their own free will. If they don't like what they are paid, they should go to the job centre.
Is Vfor vendetta out on blue ray, I can't find it in any British sites?
The "perks" are part of the terms and conditions of the job, without the "perks" it would be impossible for anybody to afford to be a politician. The other option is to increase the standard pay and drop the expenses.
The poll missed the hang em all and start again option. Or the pure dictator option with no costly MPs
Then the system should be looked at so that they can afford to live off the normal wage. Offering a low paying job than adding hidden 'perks' that are not transparent to tax payers is mockery of the system.
Its not that I am against some of their expenses being paid, after all company's will pay traveling / fuel costs / food where needed on meetings etc.....but £4000 in food?!, the speakers wife splashing out over £4000 in taxis?!, and what part of politics requires a TV licence as part of their job? - If they want to know whats on the news like the rest of us they should buy a licence.
Give them a proper wage (If it is low) and drop all this hidden expenses non-sense. Make a list of what is and what isn't claimable by them - end of.
The 2nd home allowance they can claim has a top limit of around £23K, they just vary what they are actually claiming for. If you did bump the the standard wage to include the current claimable perks it would probably cost the tax payer more, some MPs dont claim this money as they earn enough elsewhere.
The basic wage is £61k
Personally I would prefer to see a list of the total amounts claims over the basic wage, I dont give a monkeys what their accountants have put down in the reasons for claiming box.
Government is just legalised banditry and the difference between most parties in any so-called "democratic" country amount to which pocket you want picked or which arm you want twisted.
