How dare he, he obviously doesn't know microsoft and bill gates are really struggling
As i said before, everybody knows it's wrong, and stealing. But when your stealing what is such a small amount from people like Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg, due to thier already astronomical bank balances nobodys going to care.
I'm not entirly sure on the legality of TV shows either, when you can record them from the TV any way it's not much different.

im not advocating anything im just stating obvious facts that relate to pirating because lets face it. the main problem with pirating is that companies lose profit but im merly stating that the music, movies and software get huge amounts of profit and are hardly losing much from piracy has a whole.
you may argue that there still losing some profit weather its small or not, thats not the point im making, im pointing out the fact that piracy doesnt make a HUGGE impact on profit loss as you people seem to think.
only pc gaming is taking a hammering with piracy hench why there are literely 100's of threads from different forums with the title "is pc gaming going to die?" cryteck and epic dont help the cause by ditching future games to be exclusive to pc.
Companies losing profit means they don't make so much money and then they lay off staff. You work in a software company right josh?, so if anyone pirates your companies software they don't make money, they lay off you because its the companies that are affected.
As for how much difference it makes, I don't think you can just say it won't make a huge difference, i don't think anyone is capable of making any level of claim over will or won't it make a huge difference.
Since when do movies make a lot of profit?, 1 in 10 movies makes a profit, that 1 pays for the other 10 losses.
EMI is a loss making company

Some of this is down to stupid processes and practises within these industries and lacking the ability or desire to change to survive. But even so your comments just make me think "its okay to pirate as its only companies that lose out they make lots of profit anyway"
You really can't believe its that simple surely?.

That's the problem, its not just PC gaming taking a hit. I'm a massive Anime fan, have been since early 90's. One company has just stopped publishing directly into the UK and reduced its US releases. They have blamed Piracy directly, they were the largest Anime distributor in the US & UK with massive involvement in Japan as well. Now that's gone, along with it one of the best Anime mags on the market, NewtypeUSA.
Piracy is Piracy no matter how its painted. Its not good for any industry to see their goods being pirated, sometime before its released. The companies will fight back to protect their IP.
just think about it this way.
how would you feel if you put your heart and sole in to making some software, game etc and then people just started stealing it?
people make software to earn a living and to feed there family's!
just because its easy to steal it doesnt mean you should!
if people didnt pirate the software in the first place then it would be cheaper.
they have to put the price up to cover the loss.
i hope torrentspy do have to pay the cash and dont get themselfs out of it.
on a side note if you know a company that is pirating adobe software how do you report them?

Time shifting is completely different to downloading TV shows. Unless you are downloading from the TV company then its almost always illegal. The TV companies have the copyright on the shows, up-to-date shows like heroes season two will be making that company money from distribution around the world. Go do a search for Heroes of any torrent link site and you will find lots of illegal torrents available.
