hmmm... I posted the link because I thought it was funny, not to have a cheap pop at Americans, although it may have come across that way. I'm a bit taken aback by some of the sniffily superior responses here - it does say in the article that the senator's aim in bringing the lawsuit was to demonstrate that legal redress was open to anyone, against anyone.

Billy Connolly's done it already, anyway...

lol - I've just read this and then opened a tab with G4Z's thread entitled "I've received a summons". Are they connected?

Being mostly Brits, and mostly atheists, we easily ridicule religion and the USA, more so when they're together. Second nature to us. Besides, since the Americans have taken it upon themselves to vandalise our language, some reprieve is in order eh

At least CaptianCrash read the article properly and realised the point of the article was an attempt for State Senator to highlight the American culture of litigation.

At last. Another one that actually read the article before forming an opinion based entirely on the headline
Makes Britons look pretty dumb, this thread.
And before any of the "read the headline, react and form an opinion" idiots here jump on me for being American, I am in fact english.

American English is older than British English. Essentially we updated our language, they didn't. Hardly vandalism.

I bet most of the people that has said as such, either DID read the article, or would've said the same thing regardless.

Because it was British English. They went over there and didn't change it as much/changed it differently to us and so their fork became American Engulish.

Always thought it was the case with there absence of the class system that they relaxed the vocals on the language.

Am I too late for the Yank bashing?

(joke. Seriously. My brother's living in DC at the moment and engaged to an American girl.)
