That's the only definition on google by using "define:racist" that mentions religion. None of the other results do and only mention race.

The Oxford English dictionary also makes no mention of it:

Religion is not a race, so I think it really is the wrong term to use.

Was just watching the marathon and a thought that can only be perceived as racist came up in my mind “hell if a white man can run that much”

In other words... are Jews a seperate race or just another religion? This is because my teachers seem to be failing me more and more as I get into these discussions.

It's a bit more complicated than that. There's ethnicity, religion and maternal lines to consider. So you can be a Jew and not follow Judaism.

Yeah, I wondered about that and did read further within the article, but by that rational I am Catholic, Protestant and probably Norse (or whatever that religion was called...'sacrifice people by bashing them on the head with a hammer').

Doesn't really make a lot of sense to me, but then again Judaism is a dying religion anyway, so I guess they're keen to get as many people on board as possible.

I don't know, does it work like that? There's considerable difference between Syrian's and Iranians, and the individual nationalities within the Middle East are typically quite insular in their attitudes to marriage. As 'Arabs' there is obviously quite a lot of racial diversity, but that's like saying the same about 'Europeans' or 'Asians'.

You're right about Middle Eastern Jews being Isralies....they're too scared to live anywhere else in the Middle East....

While the argument about what defines race and racism is quite an interesting one, wouldn't it just be easier to call the 'racists' xenophobes and biggots and have done with it.
