    I think not-
    • The shopping centre sequence included a lot of shots of shops, which is effectively stealth advertising on the BBC
    • The armed forces probably did it for free given that Top Gear's main audience also happens to be their main recruitment source

    Cynical...moi?

Not at all cynical. Like the race between the Veyron and the Typhoon, the military will do a lot to get good PR at the moment; so sequence like that shown yesterday was very beneficial to them.

as has been mentioned, the grenade holders cracked me up!

The royal marines couldn't buy better advertising than that.

    What did it say?

Anyway - a brilliant episode. Completely ludicrous test for the Fiesta, I couldn't believe what I was watching at the time, and considering it survived driving through the sea (well, it carried on going until the end of the filming, god knows what state it's in now) that's got to be a brilliant advert

edit: i fast forwarded through the Boris Johnson bit (as I do with most of the "star in a reasonably priced car" sections) - did I miss anything interesting?

Essentially that the Marina used in the communist car video on the show was bought on ebay from one of their members (he started the post).

He was assured that it would not be mistreated/smashed/blown up and that it was going to a loving home..

there was also controversy on whether the killed car was his, someone connected with the show had e-mailed to say it wasn'tand they had cleaned up a scrapper for that bit

Certainly was. I recognised it straight away, being a Basingstokian! Very strange seeing them racing around the shopping centre where we were last weekend!

Just popping into town to see if I can buy the Corvette from Birthdays!
