What was great about 2008? [A thread of positivity]

A thread of positivity, to shake off some of the current doom & gloom.

Favourite CD's released this year, gigs, Hexus meets, stellar overclocks, new kit, births, marriages, new girlfriends, boyfriends, exam results, etc etc etc. Just what was good about the year.

Tell us what made 2008 great (for you).

1. Some fantastic games were released this year e.g. Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, COD5 *insert your own here*. Its been a great year for games

2. Landmark presidential election; spells some good things for the rest of the world is Obama lives up to his word.

3. Year of the netbook: I have one, its great... can't believe how much I use it.

4. Personal stuff: more interesting projects at work, being asked to be a bestman (the organising that surrounds that, all I can say is avoid the centre of Bath on the 11th of July ), ditching a gf who was making my life a misery.

1) Finished a fantastic placement year in which I was given my own project after impressing them. My manager really wants me to come back after I've finished my final year
2) Went snowboarding, for the first time, in Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe.
3) Went to Cuba with my girlfriend for 2 weeks.
4) My girlfriends brother got married and her sister had another baby.
5) Completed my first cyclosportive (76miles). Now I'm looking to do more next year along with some triathlons.
6) US presidential election.

1) Got together with Jen, 'tis great!
2) Had some excellent meets, notably in May in Birmingham and in October in MK (thanks Rai )
3) Great music, the new Killers, Keane and Coldplay albums haven't left the car since I got them.
4) Lewis Hamilton won the F1 Driver's Championship.

1) The missus and I got our first place together!
2) Man U won the double
3) Got my first car

1) A level results
2) Going to uni
3) Man Utd confirming themselves as the best club in the world.
4) My nephew was born this year
5) Having a huge summer holiday to hang out with friends.

1: Got into CoD4 and it took over nicely from Lineage2 as my online "tipple" and doesnt need £9 per month.
2: Merlin came out on TV and I love it
3: My little lad became a little boy, and not a baby, and he's cooler and more interesting for it
4: Built and upgraded some friends PC's and made them smile, even though it made me curse a lot of the time!

1) Saw Stone Gods/Airbourne
2) Actually got through a year without being driven mental by the missus
3) New kite
4) Learned to jump properly when kite landboarding
5) Joined hexus (and discovered what great people are on here XD)
6) Bush coming out of the white house

I could actually go on forever The year is never as bad as people make it out to be

2. Leeds Festival seeing RATM
3. Went quad core
4. Became a 360 owner.
5. Got my first car....and crashed it the following day (well bumped someone but technically a crash)

2. Got a great job .
3. Started sixth form; met loads of new people.
4. Upgraded the arse off my PC .
5. Bought an Xbox 360 Elite about 2 hours ago .
6. Went to Miami on holiday.

1 - Finishing off my level 3 diploma in early years development in childcare
2 - Getting a job with Childrens Centre Services ( SureStart )
3 - Being given a payrise after 6 months of being in new job
4 - Being told my 15 year old is predicted A*'s in his GSCE's if he carries on working at the level he is now
5 - Welcoming Jasper, our 12 month old Kitten to the family

Jelous... I didn't even get to see them once!

ehhh

1.) Good standard grade results... a 1 for computing, english, maths and graphics isn't bad !
2.) Finally got a good system .
3.) Had an amazing summer!
4.) Highers aren't going too bad, don't understand higher maths at all though . Physics and computing are pretty easy though .
