Egg and milk are just about as easy as they come. I tried to make scrambled eggs with my old house mates soya milk, it didn't work as well i'm assuming because of the lack of fat content.

Also i doubt they taste the same, that said i'm kinda curious as to how they tasted now!

I'm just upset i didn't have any suitable liquior in to make crepe suzette! (Madduck in 3,2,1)
Easier to cook because firstly once it's mixed, it's mixed, not constantly trying to seperate like eggs and milk where you have to keep whisking it every few mins to keep it mixed, it doesn't actually need whisking, just stirring together until it's mixed. Secondly they cook in literally 30 secs, then 5 secs on the other side to brown, and done, first year i've been able to make them quick enough with how quickly they're eaten

As for the taste, I suppose the thing with pancakes is they pretty much taste of what you put on them so it would be more accurate to say they didn't taste noticably different. The main taste of pancakes is flour and milk, with the eggs as fat to bind it, the Vegan version has soy milk which tastes pretty much the same as milk when used as an ingredient, and Olive Oil as the fat to bind it. The main advantage is the fat content is a lot lower, and the fat in them is Mono-unsaturated and Poly-unsaturated rather than the (relatively) high saturated fat content of milk and egg-yolks.

Re: are we all eating pancakes yet?

Most people make their traditional mix the night before, after a good beating to get all the lumps from the flour out, you leave it in the fridge overnight. Less air bubbles.

Given that it cooks quicker i'd just assume the mix is thinner, there is one advantage of having no eggs, given the crap we've fed our chickens in the past, the lack of salminela is a big plus to cooking times.

But seriously, on my induction hob this year, i was cooking them in about 30 seconds a peice, including tossing (except for the almond + ameretto ones, those where quite thick).

I agree that its healthier in many ways, but don't forget about the lack of protien, and if the pancakes are anything like mine, its the mountain of sugar (vanilla'd) that makes it unhealthy

    Not calling me a snob?

Grand Marinarer is the norm choice, brandy for a backup (add more OJ if using Brandy).

Problem is, how do i light it on induction? I've got a milk pan to heat it, but i need to get a little blowtourch me thinks!

you are a bit i guess yes, you disguised it somewhat by just making a hint at it and not wheeling out the recipe

    How much for a pancake

It does sound nice though, even if it costs more what some people pay for food in a month
