he wasnt a angel either. too drugs etc from what i have heard. Like someone said, true legends blessed by god usualy have a short life span.

look at bruce lee. another wasted life
Drugs are a little different from what MJ was accused of. As you say, a very talented person.

But he just didn't seem geuine. An example being his song black/white. So why get surgery to make himself white?

No worries Josh, I get what you mean, but I still think they are two seperate situations etc, I don't think you can compare those characters, even though they are both highly worshiped.

K, thats it. Otherwise it'll head down the wrong road.

I personally think he was a totally genuine guy and his biggest flaw, if you are a god to honest guy then other people and the media will crusify you for it as they assume you have some ulterior motive, most people are motivated by money and MJ had plenty of it, at the end of the day he was an easy target and still is.

Do i believe all the things in media about him? .... Nope

I think that was a big problem for him. He was a very vulerable person and also an easy target. Having never never ranch. You can see what alligation would come next.
And those court cases wiped him out and left him in debt.
I do not believe all the media have said.
Still, I do not think he was as genuine as he made himself out to be.

And to this day I find it hard to come to decission in my mind on the person he was.
Before I think it was a case of you have your opinion of him and then you have your opinion of his music.

So as this thread is about the the man and his passing I am not sure on my point of view on it.
I'm not going to slag the man off. But I'm not going to call him a god and forget all that has happened.

why what has happened, the stuff you heard in the media? The stuff he was not charged for.

Agreed he was a wierd guy but we don't know the true reasons behind this. All I know is his Music will never be forgotten.

Not the media. The court case. I feel that if it was not for money he would be in prison. But if he did not have the money would he have been accused? He did buy himself out the first accusation.

Post of the day for me so far:

A long time ago, I accompanied a family friend on a trip to her home town in Spain. I was very young (barely a teenager), and deep down I didn't want to go without someone my own age, as she was much older (50<60). After a few days there, I remember sitting in my room and crying because I just wanted to go back home. I was not enjoying the experience, especially since the family friend was the only person in the small town that spoke good English. And I could only count to 10 in Spanish. But one day I plucked up the courage to go on a little walk with some of the local kids. There were about 20 of them, and they did their best to communicate with me with the limited English they had. We stopped at sat in a circle in a little woodland area, and I remember them singing some songs that I had no idea of. But then suddenly, someone looked at me with what I can only describe as an 'obvious' look on their face, and said "Michael Jackson". From out of nowhere it was as if everyone spoke perfect English as we sang "Man In The Mirror". Despite the tears I had cried the night before, and the anxious days that would lead up to my flight home, for that one moment in that day, I was really happy. And despite the language barrier, and the cultural differences, we were all just so... together.

When I was a kid, Michael Jackson was without doubt the most amazing and coolest person in the world for me. Him, and Michael J. Fox because he went back to the future and was a teen wolf. I wasn't the crazy and obsessive fan, but I did have all the Michael Jackson music, posters, calendars, videos etc. Some of which have withstood the test of time, whilst others haven't. And the rest have been passed on to various family members, who all love his work.

Not one Xmas goes by without the Jackson 5 Christmas album being played in my family home. I remember the time when my sisters were all dancing in the living room whilst my parents were out, trying to learn all the steps from the Thriller video when it was first released. It is such a happy image that I have from my childhood. I also remember how excited I was when the world premier of the new "Bad" video was about to be shown on tv. But I think my most vivid (and proudest) memory I have was when I and my 5 friends came first in a dancing competition with our Smooth Criminal interpretation. We were good, and we deserved to win. If only video cameras were so easily available in those days.

Last night, I was in total shock as I watched the news reports. But waking up this morning, the realisation of his death has really hit me. As I reminisce to past performances via YouTube, and catch snippets of his music videos on the televesion, I am struggling to fight back the tears as I watch my first "idol". Even as I write, what has now become a longer post than anticipated, I get a bit teary eyed.

It was always said that Michael Jackson had global and worldwide appeal. As a young boy I never truly understood what that meant, or how incredible it was for a person of colour to achieve that. It's only later when I looked back at a simple moment in a small town in Spain I could finally appreciate what it means.

"It is said that the mark of greatness is when everything before you is obsolete, and everything after you bears your mark." I love that quote. And for his work, I find it easy to attribute it to Michael Jackson.

A shame really, from the King of Pop to Wacko Jacko, it's a sorry way to end it.

Hope his kids pull through ok.

    Re: MJ Dead???

He was undoubtedly the biggest name in pop, and it is a great shame. But I cannot feel too sad about it when there are many others that will die today, some of which will of done the world a greater service than he did.

My condolences go to his friend and family, and all the people that spent hundreds of pounds on tickets to see his comeback...
