Yes it is, as fewer people are been ripped off paying for those people who knew less than they should and where of little use.

Re: A man walks into a branch of PC world...

To be fair my local PCW staff are great. They amble over, peering at me from under their fringes <insert dulux dog img> and ask to help. As soon as we have established that I don't want any of the usual crap but just a few screws, they go and get me a packet. When I say I only need a few, they went into the little support area and came back with a little stash bag of screws for free...

They were young (to my eyes anyone not grey yet) and genuinely helpful. They didn't get in my way and gave me exactly what I asked for at no charge. A piece of genuine good service that I don't get often.

Remember management decrees are what they work to, and I can empathise with that.

PCWorld, so long as you avoid the zombies that work there, aren't too bad if you're after particular things.

That's a good one! Reminds me of the time a salesman tried to get my Dad to buy MS Office 'because Openoffice doesn't work on Windows Vista' - which it did... Or a 'free' laptop if he payed an extra tenner a month for wireless broadband - I think the same package was £10 less without the laptop - free eh? Or maybe the Norton 360 special offer. I feel really sorry for the people who go in there for a cheap, basic PC and end up spending nearly a grand on hardware they just don't need! I'd love to go round advising everyone but I guess I'd get banned from the shop or something...

Re: A man walks into a branch of PC world...

PC World treat my dad like an idiot because he's wrinkly. He's been a mechanical and electrical engineer for 50 odd years, and has a T-shirt to say so, but he gets no respect unless he wears his Royal Marine Commandos T-shirt. Go figure, as the Americans say.

Re: A man walks into a branch of PC world...

Last time I went into PCW (Can't for the life of me think why) I asked a someone who was stacking the shelves if they had any long SATA cables in stock. To which I got the response, "I'll have to be honest with you sir, I'm not sure what they are"

Only then could I see the cables right there in front of them where they were filling the shelves.

QFT. Especially OiD. I dare say the PCW guy walked off in disgust, his dreams in tatters
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
