    Re: Age gaps in relationships.

There are 11.5 years between me and my bf - it freaks me out a bit when we think about it, but most of the time it's not an issue. it's how you act and behave that makes someone's age at the end of the day.

I'd say go for it... ask her out for a coffee, the worst she can say is no.

That's how I look at it. I'm 30, my girlfriend is 21 and as far as I'm concerned our ages are irrelevant though she was 19 (and I was 29) when we started going out and a few people did raise their eyebrows when they realised I was going out with a teenager. Their problem though, not mine.

I see no problems, in fact I would give you a pat on the back and a well done hand shake!

    Do it!

And don't worry about the work thing either - I'm just about to marry someone I met at work (and still work with!).

    Re: Age gaps in relationships.

I'll agree (in general) that age is nothing more than a number, the only 2 people it needs to concern are the 2 people in the relationship. If you're both fine with it, screw anybody and everybody else - it's neither their concern, nor their business.

I know plenty of lasting relationships with substantial age gaps (my maw and paw have 11 years between them) and all of my long terms have been with a gap of at least 5 or 6 years.

just go for it, better to have tried and failed than never try at all

    Re: Age gaps in relationships.

There's obviously something between you so, go for it and see what happens.

As mentioned, working together may be a complication - though obviously not for some, as above - though I've been involved with two women I worked with (I was engaged to one) and when the relationships went south it was a difficult situation indeed.

On another note, you like the lady in question and that's a big plus. I've been out with a number of ladies I fancied and found out that I didn't like them as people at all. Liking someone is a good basis to move forward I'd say..

Good luck, hope everything works out for the best!

    Re: Age gaps in relationships.

The "age" issue isn't down to numbers, it's down to maturity and generation differences. As long as you like similiar things and have some common ground then go for it.

If not, then you're basically just hooking up for sex, if you can handle that with a collegue, then go for it.

Oh and also ask yourself whether you want to start a relationship that you had to ask an internet forum about whether it's a good idea or not. PErsonally if I had doubts that could only be solved this way, I'd not bother!

Don't jump in with both feet, but nothing wrong with a dipping a toe in the water.

Tell her there is this film you want to see, but no one will go with you, or something obvious like that

Its not so bad now, but when she is 50, you will be 38 ... Thats if things go well and right.

Personally I think its too much.

She is mature enough to realise that the difference between your ages means you are passing through different phases in life. There's nothing to stop you having 'fun' together but if your relationship develops, the missing synchronicity will become more evident; she knows this. I doubt that she is off somewhere blogging for advice...

Oy Santa, get back to the toy factory and stop trolling

Ask her out Behemoth, see how it works. I'd say keep it light and date some and so on, but lets face it, who the hell am I to give relationship advice, i'm crap at them

ps : surprised noone else has pointed out the advantages of dating the erm, more experienced lady, so i won't either, it would be crude
