Seriously though, who implemented that an age gap was a faux pas?

If you like each other then go for it, dive in at the deep end, if you don't ask you don't get...

The worst thing that can happen is she says no and there is a little bit of awkwardness for a week or so, it'll subside quickly anyway...

    You only live once...
Implemented? I'd say it's an area of understanding between generations. At 42 she has done and seen more than the OP. So if she's sitting back talking about something the OP might be completely clueless. I'd say in the 30 range is the most he should go. In the 40 range is like her robbing the cradle.

Am I upset ? A little but I'll get over it.

    Once again thanks to all.

Well that's a crap objection TBH. If the only reason she's leaving is that her life hasn't gone the way she planned and she fancies a new start abroad, then surely she'd reconsider if she had you to stay for?

I guess it depends how much you like her. If it's just the fact that she reciprocated your flirting that piqued your interest, because you're a bit lonely or whatever (I'm not being rude, I've definitely been there myself), then maybe you should let her go.

But if you fancied her rotten before it all came out, then you need to man up and let her know. Because I'm 100% with Saracen and Zak- better to have loved and lost than never to have loved. I don't put it in quotation marks any more because I see it as a simple fact.

And for the record, my wife is 4 1/2 years older than me. She looks, acts, and frankly just is far younger than me. I'll be an old fart long before her.

That sucks, I would still go for it and have some fun while you can and maybe some bigger will happen which makes her stay or you could follow her, I don't know, nothing to lose but everything to gain.
