    Re: Big Purchase in 2010

I've got a couple of big things.

Moving into our new house build hopefully by june (must do a new thread abourt how it's getting along) but i think the weathers putting it back.

I've then got to fill my game/home cinema room with all my techy stuff. So far what i'm planning to buy is

    InFocus IN80
    Denon AVR2310
    Q Acoustics 2000 Series

And i've then got to build a gaming htpc
That so far is planning to a have either a core i5/i5 CPU
    Nvidia Fermi
Plus i'm also thinking about watercooling it.

I've also got to build a new server along with buying all the switches and patch panels for all the etherent cables.

Luckily everythings been budgeted into the house build so aslong as i dont keep getting bigger and better (and more expenisve) i should be ok.

    I just can't wait.

What's the difference between a core i5 and an i5 CPU?

    Re: Big Purchase in 2010

Since the divorce is officially finalised next week (depending on her solicitor) I will be buying a house shortly after and all the other good stuff that brings (and costs)...

    Sky HD
    Blu Ray Player
    AV Amp + Speakers

I am also tempted (depending on what I buy) to run cat6 to everyroom and faceplate it nicely...this is more of a project than a purchase but will be something to waste my time on.

    Re: Big Purchase in 2010

I got a WE pen last week, but doesn't really count as a *big* purchase

I've got my eye on a couple more pens and possibly another Rolex sometime this or next year - it's definitely going to be a *big* purchase considering its crafted out of solid 18k rose gold. The problem is the model I want has the "meteorite diamond dial", where the dial made out of from a shaving of the Gibeon meteorite. It is rarely ever seen in the boutiques though

Some snaps of what it'll look like:

    Re: Big Purchase in 2010

that's a pimp rolex, some people think spending that much on a watch is silly but if i was earning big $ i'd get one 8)

i may look into upgrading my psu and getting an i5 and 4gb appropriate memory, time to get a quad core me thinks.

also was thinking about selling my iphone 3g and getting a blackberry bold 9700, but it's purely because i get bored of technology quick :|

    Re: Big Purchase in 2010

Nothing very expensive in itself, but a couple of computer related things that will add up:

    - 1TB hard drive
    - New keyboard and mouse
    - New graphics card and RAM if I can afford it, most likely not.

Will be going on holiday with my mates in the summer as well, nowhere expensive though.

    HTPC
    New PC monitor
    Pair of netbooks for uni
Various things when we move into a uni flat, depends what's already supplied
    Summer holiday (possibly)

Think that's about it, although I'll probably come up with something else before the year's out.

If there's anything I could predict, it would be an LED TV - and very, very outside chance that the wife & I will get bored enough to buy a house, if the right one crops up.

I am trying to hold back from embarking on the 3D bandwagon, with the 24" acer screen that will be released later this month coupled with the nvidia 3G glasses. I really do not think I need this, however, there's this part of me that is aching to buy the kit.

Has anyone got the glasses who would recommend for or against buying it?

Car stereo/iPod adapter is also a possibility for me!

I don't think 3D TV is going to take off. You have to look at it from one angle really for optimum effect.
