Watching the coverage while playing Assassins Creed II. Dual Screens FTW!

Did anyone see Dimbleby completely ignore BBC impartiality, when talking about the BNP in Barking - "If they were to win the seat, it would be a first for a ... err party of that ... ilk... racist ... err far-right." Legend!

Anyone here actually been polled. I've never been and don't know anyone who has. Where do they find these people?

Are we having our own Florida 2000 here? Not enough ballots, polling closing early, and now postal votes missing in York.

Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

I think its a mess, but its not exactly a Florida. The BBC were saying it (the shutting of centres) disadvantages labour as labour voters tend to vote later but I'm not really sure.

Its disgraceful, but what happened in Florida was bordering on corrupt from what I read. This seems more like a cockup.

My polling station was deathly quiet incidently - bizzare to see the queues in some places when there was noone at mine.

I dont know why the BBC arent reporting the HeXus community poll which is showing a huge swing to the Lib Dems!! It seems about as reliable as some other polls

Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

Well, first Con gain. Kingswood from Labour, with a 9.4% swing. This was a marginal that was beyond the Tory target list for overall majority. That result is seriously not good for Labour, but it is obviously still very early days.

On the other hand, Torbay was a target to take from LD and LD held, and gained 1.1% against Tory.

Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

Nice find on the 2005 poll, interesting swing calculations as well. I still am not convinced that the Tories will get an overall majority, but if you consider Sinn Fein not turning up, and the Ulster Unionists already having pledged support, they might just squeak by. I agree it wouldnt really be right for Brown to stay in power in a Lab-Lib coalition given the Tories would have so many seats, but I worry that if the Tories get their overall majority we wont get the electroral reform it seems so many people want. I hope that the tories have to go to the lib dems as they are too short to govern effectively in a way.

It just seems so strange to me that Lib Dems can get so few seats with mid-twenties popular support, obviously due to the first past the post system. And it is sad that if you are in a seat where your party has no hope of winning, you cant vote for the party that you actually like because it will be wasted.

Interesting point being made on the BBC about Scotland. So little Tory support, surely the nationalists will get a big boost by Scotland being governed by Tory government (4th party in Scotland). This worries me, as I am a bit of a union fan and think a breakup would be so so messy.

I'm not convinced they will either, but my gut feeling now is that it's more likely than opinion and the exit polls would suggest.

Interestingly, even David Blunkett openly he said he thought (regrettably) that Labour had lost and that a Tory majority seemed likely.

I'm certainly not hearing ANY senior Labour people predicting anything better than a hung Parliament.
