    Re: Suggest a timewaster!

*sigh* should've done more research before clicking "buy" I guess *doh*

OK, ignore the rant about the monitor not working properly then I'm still miffed about the failed delivery.

Also, as a side issue, does anyone know how to force Windows 7 to recognise all available resolutions / refresh rates for the monitor? I'm pretty sure there's no 64bit compatible driver for it, and while I can force the appropriate settings through the graphics driver (2048x1536 @ 75Hz is lush, btw) I can't select it automatically form the Desktop Resolution dialogue, and I'm wondering if that will affect my ability to select it in games (e.g. Portal only give me res options up to 1600x1200)...?

My Vision Master Pro 17 inch has those lines on it too, nothing to worry about

I bet it's making your PC room warmer, and the cat now has a nice warm place to sleep

    Re: Suggest a timewaster!

Yeah, my VisionMaster must be a shadow mask - I've never noticed them with it. In fact, I've never seen that before anywhere, so I must only ever have used cheap rubbishy CRTs before (more than likely!)...

It's only making the room warmer when I'm in there (I'm a good boy and turn my monitor off if I'm leaving the room, and the whole PC off if I'm not going to be using it for a couple of hours). Given that I had a CPU temp reading of 2 degrees over the winter, I'm not going to complain about some extra heat sources in that room

Actually, I hadn't thought of that - when I go water cooled, is there any suitable non-corrosive anti-freeze I can use? The study doesn't get used much so doesn't get heated during the winter...

    Salt might be an idea?

Does anyone use acetonitrile (about 5%-10%) mixed with water? Just thought that it would kill any greenies wanting to set up home. It shouldn't freeze then either.

    gratz on your new monitor!
