Those charity boxes that makes coins spin....where to get hold of one?

    Hi folks,

I was thinking of an easy way to raise funds for my son's playgroup as they seem to come up with terrible ideas that are only just short of "stuff this envelope with fivers, your kid will love it" …

I thought about those dome shaped charity boxes that you put coins in the perspex top and they then spin around before dropping into the bottom. I thought it might be a good idea as kids would like it & parents probably wouldn't mind giving them a few coppers every day to put into it.

My problem is where to get hold of one? I have no idea where to start or even what sort of cost they'd be, if a lot then it's not worth doing!

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

    Cheers!

    Rob

    They're called Moneyspinners.

As for buying one, I don't think they'd be on sale to the general public for obvious reasons.

Have a look here - http://www.donationboxes.co.uk/ - they offer the option to hire one.

I remember a predecessor to those, it was a basic box but instead of just a slot in the top, it had a tall back plate with pictures on it, then ether a zigzag or pins then a bit a perspex in front of that.
(a bit like Pachinko but with coins)

Made dropping coins in more interesting, and if you used another sheet of acrylic in front of the back plate then you could change the background picture easily.

Why do I keep thinking "epic case mod" while reading this thread...?

Re: Those charity boxes that makes coins spin....where to get hold of one?

Cheers guys, I've contacted Angal although I dread to think of the cost

Their 'globe' has given me an idea though, not sure how hard it is to get hold of a perspex sphere but it could be a cheaper option?

Thanks & keep suggestions coming if there are any more!

I'd say get a penny falls machine - I've yet to meet anyone that can walk past one and NOT stick a few coins in.

Been trying to find one as it'd make the ultimate piggy bank!

You need to avoid spending your own cash for obvious reasons. Couldn't you make a wishing well or something - kids love making wishes, and so do adults. And anyone who makes a wish a day gets a bag of sweeties at the end of the week? It'll be down to parents to make the wishes come true .
