Delivery Scam

Just an FYI, I google searched the PDS tel number and results seem to confirm this.

It has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

Rather than communicating the ever increasing number of individual scams, how about we educate people of the following:

09 numbers are expensive. Never call them. If a company asks you to call one, they are either scamming you or having a giraffe and aren't worth doing business with.

There, that covers pretty much everything.

Nope, premium rate numbers can charge at £0.10/min to £1.50/min - OfCom would not allow any more than that.

These messages are just a primitive virus playing on people's panic instinct, simply putting one line from the message into google leads instantly to hoax-buster sites telling you that this was a genuine scam - IN 2005 !! ... but even then it only charged at the max £1.50/min.

They can charge more, those prices are from a BT landline, other landlines may vary and mobiles will cost considerably more.....

I swear internet traffic must be bogged down by people forwarding these useless chain emails/posting them on forums. Whilst I appreciate people trying to warm others of scams (which are pretty much 100% avoidable by using common sense), a quick search in the right places will reveal that this company was shut down 5 years ago and the number no longer works.

0906 numbers, which I believe are the most common, are capped at £1.50 per minute, it's the 0904, 0905 and 091 numbers which you need to be careful of as there doesn't appear to be a limit, but they would need to specify the cost to the caller otherwise they would be heavily fined.

The increased charges you are talking of are charged by the operator, the company with the 09 number won't get any extra.
