Many happy returns of the yesterday. A co-worker at my place of work shares your birthday and I am currently reaping the cake rewards. (I've never understood that tradition - surely everyone else should buy you cakes on your birthday!)

Thanks all. Yep was a good day for a barbie.
I bought everyone in the office some doughnuts and a couple of bunches of grapes on Friday. My youngest stepdaughter decided to bake the cake....It tasted great, but had to be hurriedly iced into a laptop shape as there had been something of a small slope issue.

I can only assume that you work in local government, since that's the only place I've ever found this to be a genuine tradition

And I think it's perfectly fair that if someone wants to make a big thing of it being their birthday in work they should provide the cake to do so - then their colleagues can take them out for beers after work instead, and the cake will help soak up the beer

Nope, a large corporate company But cakes are in abundance! Most days there are cakes or biscuits for some reason or other, so it's been a battle to keep the flab at bay.
