Anyway, its off-topic, but working from home doesn't necessarily mean you pay business rates. It all depends what you do and how you do it.
I know, I was a little spiteful and had good reason to believe he was a thieving little scumbag so reported it, given that he couldn't even set up a legit website for his 'business' I figured he would either not have it set up properly as a business, or not declaring the income, or doing other dodgy bits

Re: Have £6 compensation or leave Negative Feedback on ebay?

I ordered a PS3 from Zavvi at xmas and they sent it to me without a receipt, this wouldn't usually be a problem but you need a receipt in order to back up the warranty on the PS3 so after hassling them with a few emails they sent me one. (What is with companies expecting you to print the receipt off )

As for your issue i would leave the negative feedback, its all in the favour of the buyer and your not going to receive negative feedback back (like you used to) so be honest about it all and tell them to keep their £6.

Let their "28 days to accept" offer expire and report them.

Re: Have £6 compensation or leave Negative Feedback on ebay?

Someone actually threatened my life so I would leave them positive feedback. Nothing went wrong with the transaction, I just forgot to leave feedback.

Reported it and their account got closed almost instantly.

Re: Have £6 compensation or leave Negative Feedback on ebay?

I would take the money as a gesture of apology for their crap service, leave the feedback well alone, and report them to eBay.

Then, in all further communications with the firm, I would become extremely confused by the entire process, and find the concept of linking the payment to feedback utterly incomprehensible. Partly for my own entertainment.

Definitely report them, this kind of shady practice needs to be stamped out.

If you still want the money, phone the Sun and ask if they'll pay you £50 for the story.

    The Reply from ebay
I've checked on your records and can confirm that your reported member did breach ebay policy feedback violation.
I'm pleased to let you know that I've already taken action against member zavvi_out*** for this.
Our disciplinary action ranges from a formal warning, temporary account restrictions up to indefinite suspension of a member's account. If another member receives a warning or a temporary suspension, you may well see them continue to use eBay.

Re: Have £6 compensation or leave Negative Feedback on ebay?

honestly, I can't see anything more than a slap on the wrists from ebay.... why would they close down big outlet stores on ebay who gnerate them lots of money for the sake of someone being offerec cash for feedback....

Rules are rules and they should be abided, but theyre not going to lose money over it...

if it were me, screw the moral highground, do as snootyjim suggested: take the money, leave feedback as is, act completely confused by the whole thing, or ignore them...

how would they explain adding a refund and then trying to draw it back out to paypal - they wont.

Seems you're not alone in refusing to be bought.

762 negative and 1211 neutral feedback in the past 12 months.

I wonder if they offered those 2,000 odd folks £6 too?

I believe the email said they'd credit the £6 *after* the feedback was changed, so unless you're suggesting changing the feedback rating twice, taking the money and running wasn't an option...

Hmm, that really doesn't leave me with many options left. Steam aside, the only online retailers I've been using in the past year for games purchase has been Zavvi/TheHut and Amazon (and Game once). Zavvi hasn't personally disappointed me so far, but this episode is disappointing to read.

To be fair I got the item in a reasonable time as advertised...but did pay for my own return (which is fair) and then heard nowt for a month until I left the -ve feedback...Hmmmm
