Kez, im on Freeserve (Wanadoo now), and have been having this problem for a good week or so now.
Random timeouts on sites i KNOW are up. Very slow transfers (with many pauses while recieving the data - guessing their rubbish proxy server again), and other random issues...

My ISP has absolutely nothing to do with BT. Karoo is based on Kingston Communications... we don't have BT lines here :\

They offered me the choice of either have a new line installed but if it's not good enough they you lose broadband and we won't do anything, or lump it..

I had to live with it in the end, flakey broadband is still better than crummy dial-up

I'm now waiting for Long Reach ADSL..

Same here - line was replaced and the SNR ratios we're superb. Suffice to say on that line at my mothers house now they have a 2Mb Nildram link and I have a 2 Mb Bulldog link @ my home

Kez - the best thing to do is try a piece of software called visualpulse which is available from www.visualpulse.com

Once installed, set it to monitor a 4 or 5 websites or game servers and let the system record all the data.

After a day, the graphs will speak for themselves.

    Hope this helps Steve

Ahh, I'm going to wait until long reach is with us then get them to replace the line, that way it won't matter so much if I get another duff line..
