    From Reuters
MILAN (Reuters) - A previously unknown group claimed responsibility in the name of al Qaeda for a series of blasts in London that killed at least two people and wounded 185, the Italian news agency ANSA reported on Thursday.

The "Secret Group of al Qaeda's Jihad in Europe" claimed the attack in a Web site posting and warned Italy and Denmark to withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, ANSA said.

The claim could not be verified and did not appear on any of the Web sites normally used by al Qaeda.

"Heroic fighters of the Arab nation, it is time for revenge against the crusader and Zionist British government, in response to the massacre carried out by Great Britain in Iraq and Afghanistan," ANSA quoted the message as saying on a site it named as "el qal3ah.com".

"We command the Italian and Danish governments to pull their troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan."

There was no power surge. If a power surge had happened it would have tripped the switches cutting power to the trains. The modern trains have very good safety systems so there is no way that any trains actually crashed, all that would have happened is that the breaks are applied.

The reason why trains are stuck is that there is no power. The underground is powered by DC, so its going to take a while to remove any trains, as they will need to use the diesel loco's to shunt them.

This has certainly bought london & the rest of the country down with a bump after the joys of yesterday.

My thoughts are with the families of those injured & dead.

God damn it. We all knew this was just a mater of time. It's just a shame these bastards often blow themselves up, i can think of a much more fitting end involving razor blades and a vat of acid. Jesus, what i would give for just 5 minutes alone with one of those evil c***s.

At least the emergency services have been planning well for this. We had the best people to deal with this kind of attack. Still, does not help those poor people today who lost thier lives. It just goes to show how vunerable we are, even with all inteligence work that goes on.

    Peace.

Couldn't the force from the blast of the bomb on the bus cause a train to de-rail, striking another train?

I think from now on we should quote websites like 0iD has, rather than adding to speculation at this disturbing time.

From what i heard on news 24, two trains were passing in a tunnel at the moment one bomb went off.

Anyway, whatever has happened will all become clear soon enough. All i am going to say now is that our hearts go out to everyone involved.

Think Beanbandit has been working on the tubes recently hence the speaking from knowledge rather than supposition. And i don't think he says anything about how the trains de-railed. All he's saying is that it wasn't a power surge....

News reporter: "After everything you've seen do you think this is a co-ordinated attack?"

6 or 7 bombs go off in London within half an hour of each other and they're asking if it was co-ordinated? Jeez. It's not as if they were all a coincidence

TiG, fair enough. I wasn't having a dig at his comments, I was merely adding my opinion to the whole thread, not just to the person I quoted.

The dust is in the air now, but with yesterday's news these next four years are a chance to show a transformation of the city and a rebirth of the travel networks that will show what England is and that we aren't going to roll over and play dead.

I don't have any family down there and few friends, I hope you're all okay and your families and friends also.

"Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters."

    Are we really?

I think that the country as a whole has dealt with this very well indeed (for what it is).

So are these the Judaean Popular Front or the Popular Front of Judaea then? Idiots. Nasty little idiots. Idiots who could do with a grammar checker at that.
