The only other group of scumbags capable of planning and carrying out this attack would be the IRA. In Blair's statement he said an Islamic group carried it out and went on to say that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful and will condemn this. The timing of the attack at the start of the G8 would indicate the later rather than the former.

I'm afraid we will all just have to be more vigilant in the future. Hopefully this doesn't lead to suspicion of everyone asian/arab etc.

Like Hitler and the IRA these Al-Qaida loons don't realise that this act will just make us more resolute.

I don't know. Hitler wanted to invade our country....the IRA were seeking policy change. So are these terrorists, the difference being that according to their values murdering people, even killing yourself, is acceptable, even if it's not going to change policy. The point is to punish wrongdoers. Hence why they don't warn people.

If this is related to Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other similar foreign policy issue, they know that we're not going to give in. Even the world's stupidest person knows by now that we don't negotiate with terrorists. What makes these terrorists so nasty is that they know that, and don't care - they just want to punish us, and if they can make us change our policy, it's a bonus.

I think that's what they want. It's not just about punishing us. They want us to react against Muslims.

I hardly think wanting all "infidels" on earth to die or convert is a matter of policy.

Wonder if they realise they are not doing themselves any favours, everyone is going to be sspicious of anyone remotely middle eastern and will probably result in revenge attacks by other loons.

Exaclty like in Northern Ireland people begin to accept and trust each other then something happens that just heightens the tension all over again.

You might be better off if you focus your thoughts on something more likely to affect you - like crossing the road carefully.

This is a tragedy for those involved, but it has to be put in perspective. How many people die on UK roads every week?

A religion can't condone anything. The people who represent it can however, and many frequently do encourage such terrible things.

As for today, London has paid the price due to the various unsafe anti-terror policies of western governments in the Islamic world, which can alone quite easily create an extremist from an angry Muslim.

This is probably true. What makes this even worse is that many Asians, Muslims, etc. will have been hurt or killed into today's blasts.

It's certainly a step backwards in terms of creating equality amongst people of the world, and will only cause more discrimination against those who live in the countries of the attackers, creating a wider split and increasing the problem.

The attackers are making things worse for themselves, and I am sure that they feel the same way about our presence in their country. Bombing one of our trains is, to them, what gaining control over an Afghan (example!) city is for us .

I heard on Virgin Radio at work around an hour ago that the death toll may now be around 50+

This is a really sad day for our country, I am personally really upset by it, I hope they get whoever is behind it.

My thoughts go out to all the families who have lost loved ones
