So, that is what my problem has been all of these years. I'm just too close minded. I suppose one's appearance has nothing to do with their character after all. Thank you so much for opening my mind.Originally Posted by 5lab

Of course one's appearance reflects upon one's character. But when on earth has a little decoration, or someone's choice of culture, proven to have detrimental affect on someone's character?
Perhaps all pierced individuals are lazy, untrustworthy scum who don't deserve a job.
Or, perhaps you're refusing a perfectly good worker because you don't like the way they look.
Kinda along the same lines, my m8 just got the Aphex Twin logo tattooed into the top of his right arm, which looks pretty good actually.
So if someones black then they automatically have a certain personality?/act a certain way? If your gonna use appearance as a judge of character your never gonna get very far.Originally Posted by smtkr
IT's just a fact of life that some people have fixed views of what someone with piercings is like. It's the same with homophobes and gay people. They dont want to talk to them cos they're gay, but they could quite easily be a seriously nice person.
A lot of people dont talk to me cos (oh gnoes) i have 9 earings and a lip piercing (visible), but if i start doing the talking first they might be a bit aprehensive at first, but they soon see i'm not gunna bludgen them then go after their children....
Just cos we have piercings doesnt stop us being genuinely nice, gentle people with good work ethics and wouldnt say boo to a goose! I dont see any reason why an employer would be against me working for them. I used to work in a v.posh spanish bar where, as long as we wore the standard white shirt, black trousers, we were fine, no one cared about how many peircings we had, or what colour our hair was (brown and pink at the time....), until we got a new manager and he tried to inforce 1 pair of earings and no other piercings rule (haha) and no obscure hair colours. Needless to say 90% of the work force left.
Basically, if you dont like what i look like, and cant be BOTHERED to find out who i really am, that's ur problem, not mine. I have many friends, and there's many employers out there that can see past the couple of tastefully placed pieces of metal on my face. You're just another fish in a very big sea

its 'sea' mate
(sorry )
Yeah, people are born with piercings. I forgot about that one as well. You've opened my eyes. I wouldn't hire someone with a peg through his/her eyebrow. I must be a racist.Originally Posted by Knoxville

Sorry, but I'm going to need some help broadening my mind on this one. So, you're saying it's not a bit of a show-off, and that's all there is to it? It's somthing bigger and better than that? Smktr has been told the good word, but no one has really challenged my view yet.Originally Posted by KeZZeR

Whatever floats your boat.
I find facial piercings like KeZZers quite alarming and disfiguring, but thats my own personal taste, he thinks its normal,
fine.
Me too which is cool because i never approach people or start a conversation usually, i find tatts and piercings interesting, like i said earlier piercings arent my thing but they look cool on othersOriginally Posted by PrivatePyle
This is my tatt
It hurt, a lot... that took an hour and a half....the tattooist was brill though, spent most of the time in fits of laughter.... he was dead impressed because that was my first tatt and didn't complain once about the painOriginally Posted by PrivatePyle
I had loads of afterburn though... that wasn't pleasant...i want to get something inbetween my shoulderblades next... or have some more detail added to that one...prolly get both eventually
That's cool you designed a tatt, i hope she gets it done
So is anyone going to post pictures?

I have several cuttings and brandings that people often ask "Why didn't you just get a tattoo?". I didn't want a tattoo.
The fact that you don't like body modification is completely respectable. I can understand completely why people aren't attracted to something - I don't see the attraction to big fake boobs, England car aerial flags or cous cous. It doesn't mean that other people shouldn't.
