I think Adrian is making this whole thing up for laughs. I mean, I don't think it's possible for anyone to have such poor spelling and grammar skills as this person appears to have...

i had kinda the same problem cept the guy on the other end of the line was AMAZING when it came to sorting this out I kindly asked him to ship the card back to myself which he offered to do at his own cost. when i got it back, fully tested and found that the memory on the card was well and truely BORKED, luckly enough it was still under warrenty so i got a streight swap out from here where i bought the card to start with (here being scan) and i paid the lovely citylink guys to send it back to him

knowing the noob- he's possibly put all four fingers on the golden connectors and the circuit board

Just say to him -i have tested it before i sent it to you due to ebay terms and conditions- if you handled the GFX card incorrectly [as in held it by the golden connectors or touched the circuit board - you've possibly short circuited the board- which is called ESD damage [AKA Electronic Static Discharge Damage].

If you buy a GFX card form ebay and dont know how to handle one- you deffo need to be shot

They guy is a complete moron. He probably tried to overclock it and killed it.

PS: You guys are really anal about your PCs. I've been working on PCs for years without proper anti-static precautions and have never fried anything. I've never reset CMOS when installing a graphics card. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Only problem with that is that as someone who likes to think of himself as a professional (ie I'm an IT engineer...) if I see anything like that in a post it immediately makes me suspicious as to whether the part works in the first place, so I'll generally give it a miss.

Just ask him to post it back to you for testing (at his cost). That usually disuades time wasters and if it is faulty then sometimes you just have to live with it and refund the original bid. If it's not faulty then offer to either post it back or to refund his money minus ebay listing fees and maybe a 10% handling fee (or just the cost to relist it again).

If he bothers to reply again tell him to send digital photos then you can inspect any damage.
Say it really doesnt work, then what? Personally i stay away from sold as is as the person
could just be selling something he knows is broken.

The anti static thing doesnt fly with me either like smtkr. I use to man handle every thing
when i was a pc repair bloke nothing ever died. Infact it always took a screw driver and repeated sparks to kill ram sticks.

Yeah got renamed from rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish to Moron? Don't know why.. I've seen words such as 'cock' and 'piss' in a title before iirc.

He probably fried the chips rather than putting them in the oven.

Yeah, like I said before I'm going to have to set up some sort of policy.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to mention about ESD.

There is one flaw though.. what if he has blown it? It was in perfect working order when I had it, it was in an anti-static bag and everything. The only way it could of blown is if he did it.

If it is genuinely blown though and he sends it back, then I don't exactly want to give a refund because he has blown it. But if it is working then yeah..
