It's about 10 minutes from my house. It's better to stay at home and watch Sky news though

The latest is that a rescue attempt is being made. It's really good to see so many people helping. I think every effort should be made to rescue this whale. The whales health is being assessed and if it is deemed that its health is so poor that it will not be able to survive out in the sea it will be humanely put down (euthanised). I really hope that doesn't happen. I'm praying for a good outcome to this...

    Oh no!

That's gutting, i was so hoping they'd be able to save him, i reckon it was the stress of all the people around him as well as the noise of the boats/helicopters etc fish get stressed very easily and it does kill them

*Yes i know it's a mammal not a fish but surely it gets stressed like other sea creatures do

Damn shame, though I'm sure they'll be sufficient interest from Japanese restaurants around the London area.

Actually, the Thames' water is quite clean these days. It used to be graded 'E', but lately, Salmon have been able to breed there (though apparently not whales).

I'm at work and we often ask people to try and load bbc.co.uk to check if they can browse - I fixed a ladies wireless connection and asked her to load it up and she started to sound really upset... then she told me it was because of this.

So I apologised. Tis a sad story tho - everything looked to be ok before I left for work.

is a shame... all the people and media coverage probably didnt help...but the thing is unless the whale beached itself there wasnt a lot that anybody could do...

just read up upon japanese whaling and how animals are becoming endangered and its enough to dishearten me... our species kinda sucks if u think about it...

I feel so sorry fo rthe whale after the wjole experience. I only found out about the story this afternoon, having been cut off from the world for a few days, and it's so nasty to see this happen now.

Well as someone did point out yesterday on the news, whales usually only get beached or lost because they are going to die anyway and are too weak to escape
