In the words of the great John Travolta (or was that Samuel J.?) in Pulp Fiction 'You do not mess with another man's automobile'. I really sympathise man, it's a real indictment of our society that such things are considered 'normal', and thus acceptable!

I am angry at this whole thread. I will not be held responsible for my actions if someone did something similar to me.

No bruv, close group of mates, we all had a great time.

Very disappointed to read that so many of you have had similar things happen. Not a great advertisment for community life in the UK!

The wife uses the car for work during the week and she works very close to an auto bodyshop, she's going to take it in for a quote in her lunchbreak tomorrow. I will let you know what the damage is!! Will post an edited (this is a family forum) photo of the damage tomorrow too!

I might have chased them .... but I wasn't in the car at the time. Which might have been a good job, as I could well have been badly cut by all the flying glass.

Still, at least the police took it seriously, up to and including finger-printing the remnants of the bottle that was thrown. Nothing ever came of it though.

I really feel for you. These little bastards just don't care about anyone. I really wish we would bring back chopping their ****ing hands off. The things is it's always the same little scum bags from the same families who the police will be more than familiar with who make everyone elses lives a misery.

Just leave it there mate. That's what I'd do. Still, I deliberately make a point of driving shonky old cars. Saves a lot of hassle. I once got hit from behind in my old shonker while I was stationary at some traffic lights- her insurance paid me £1200, I left the dent there and spent it on beer. Clearly, I think, I got great value for money.

So now your car has "f*ck off" scratched on the back. So what? It can't look any worse, it's a pug 206. Just paint it over with some hammerite if you're bothered about it going rusty.

Feel free to flame me, I probably deserve it, but I really feel that the way this country is going to hell a bit of vandalism against a fairly crappy car is the least of our worries.

I feel for u m8 after that i would keep something in the car just in case another prick messed with me... probably i am not the wisest guy but it really annoys me how these kids do what they want.

just some days ago in front of my place 4 cars had the side mirror broken, stupid kids even kept them on top of the car.

Dont worry u wont see my kids doing that i would gladly follow my social responsibilities and break there tiny legs

Unfortunately this is the way our country is, and has been for a while now.

The cause? Well i've no idea, don't know what to blame. Could be the schools, bad parenting, easy access to (what should be class A) drugs like alcohol and tobacco, lack of things to do, lack of funding in most city councils causing areas to fall in to dis-repair...

could be a multitude of things.

This kind of thing just adds to the many reasons why moving out of this country is such an attractive prospect to me. I never had one single problem living in switzerland (basel), I was living in a big city full of kids that you see all over the place - but you see next to no vandalism, you don't get abuse when walking past a group of kids, you can walk down a dark alley at 3am and feel safe..

But I guess this is not going to change in our lifetime..it iwll be interesting to see what these chavs are going to be like when they grow up - next to no job prospects, will probably end up working minimum wage drinking it all away..The really sad thing is that most of them could probably have done really well in life if given the opportunity.

    Rave,

I wouldn't call a 206 GTI a particularly crappy ride. And as I said, my wife uses it for work so shes not going to look very professional pulling up at a clients office with that scratched into the back! Plus theres the grief she COULD get from drivers behind her in traffic taking offence, so she doesnt feel very safe driving it.

Its not the money that bothers me, its the principal, I would feel the same if a little chav had done it to any one of my previously crappy motors. It wouldnt matter that the car was worth 50 quid or 50000 its still MY property.

Vandalism is not socially acceptable, nor will it ever be. If you are going to let kids get away with that, why not let them shoplift too, as i bet you think that is a victimless crime.

Yeah, maybe I should just roll with it and have "F**k Off" Shaved into the back of my head too. Or maybe I should just tell you to "F**k Off", but then again that would make me no better than the little chav who did it so I won't.

Your comments are not appreciated mate and I really don't agree with any of what you posted above, whether said as a joke or not its not funny!

Sorry to hear about that. If you were to do it yourself sand down the whole area to form a box. Prime then respray/touch up and lacquer. It might not look perfect, but all you'll get is a box that's not quite as good as the rest of the car, rather than any readable words. Then get it redone professionally when you sell on the car

Also sorry to hear about the M3 - I presume you're one of the few BMW drivers* who actually drives safely and courteously?

*generalisation made purely on the posters observations over several years that less than 1% of BMW drivers have actually indicated or behaved courteously around the posters car.

Or get it professionally resprayed so you don't look like a gypsy? Some people do actually like to drive cars that look well kept, and not just rusty and falling to pieces, and no self respecting person would drive around with "**** off" scored in the body work
