It may not occur to you but people like to buy cars as a pride and joy! Just because you don't feel that they are important enough to care about doesn't mean other people feel the same way. I love my car, it is a source of enjoyment to drive and to look at, makes me feel proud as I can look at it and say 'that's mine'. I would be unbelievably angry if some scum did the same to mine. I think that your comments are very harsh and even if you do think that point of view you shuold keep them to yourself when someone is obviously upset at having their property (as most people would be) vandelised.

Sorry rave, i usually cut you some slack but even i feel your out of line this time. So you don't care about cars.

Others do, and spend time care and attention on them. Getting them vandalised is not a trivial hammerite paint it exercise.

I don't know what your post tries to achieve but its not in the spirit of the forums at least in my opinion.

On reflection, I could have kept my largely unhelpful thoughts to myself, so sorry that I didn't.

Well I would be a bit annoyed myself, but IMO since a car is an inanimate object it's completely irrational to develop any kind of strong attachment to it. Still, I have been guilty of myself in the past I suppose. No longer though.

House party till the early hours aye.

Sure you didnt annoy some neighbours. The other night across from where i live these bloody chinese students were singing at 3am in the morning with their window open. If I had of known what cars were theirs i would have done something similar. I do live in a flat though and the next block is pretty close, which means sound travels a lot. inconsiderate people wind me luckly I havent been driven so far as to do something like that yet though.

But I know how you feel my car is getting on a bit but i take care of it. IT burns me up everytime i find a mark where some cock has opened his door into mine.

Party wasnt that wild and we went inside at 11pm, car was down the road a bit too, so how would the neigbors know it was one of the party goers?

Guy at the bodyshop wasnt there today, so wifey is taking it in tomorrow. Looks like it could cost up to £300. Oh well, there goes this months food budget! Lol!

It is the lack RESPECT thats the problem Rave it may well be a crappy car but it's "jamins" property, if people don't respect other peoples possesions, you can bet they won't have respect for everything else : thats some thug mugging a pensioner , or politican lying to get this country into an illegal war

What this couontry needs is national service. Alot of Countries still have it and I think we should never have lost it.

    a) It instills discipline and sets some ground rules.
    b) It gives a person pride in their country after serving to protect it.
    c) It gives people something to do. You won't be bored when your serving your country.
    d) It can give you many good skills which you can then take with you when you complete your service. Keeping more people off the many free handouts this country is SO good at providing (at the expense of the tax payer)

Hmmm very against that idea. Firstly it is against freedom of the people in the country, some people don't believe in fighting and it is agianst their principles. Not only that but not everyone wants to have pride in their country, personally I have no pride in the UK and couldn't really care less when it comes to being patriotic. On the other hand I can see where you are going with the sense of discipline and how it can offer useful skills.

A better way may be to send petty criminals off to the army instead of filling up jails (a huge problem in this country).

Saying that I actually have an offer of commision for the RN and love the idea of serving. However that is because I had the choice and wasn't bullied into doing it.

I think so, yes. I don't drive like a nutcase, I usually obey speed limits and certainly do in built-up areas, and I'll let people out of side roads, etc. And in more than 30 years or driving, I've yet to pick up a conviction for anything, including speed. I did get a parking ticket once (about 25 years ago) though ..... I accidentally overstayed the meter expiry in central London.

I'm sure some people think that that attitude makes driving an M3 a waste of time, but it doesn't. It does mean that when I want burst of speed, it's available, and it also means that (when used sensibly) some manoeuvers, like overtaking, can be safer, since you're out, past and back on your own side of the road that much more quickly. Besides, it's a great car to drive. And, as far as I know, I always indicate.

BMW drivers do have a reputation as arrogant and thoughtless, and I'm sure some are, but the vast bulk of arrogant thoughtless driving I see comes from teenagers with a flashed up banger for a car, and a drainpipe where the exhaust should be. They seem to think they have something to prove, and think driving like pillocks proves it.

And no, I'm not accusing all teenagers of driving like this, or even all those with flashed up cars. But when I do see some really bad driving, odds on it's a kid with the ink still wet on their licence.

One of the things I love most about the M3 is that it is undemanding and sedate if you drive at sedate speeds. Unlike some cars I've tried, it can be driven comfortably as day-to-day transport. I'm quite happy picking up the shopping from Tesco in it, and it doesn't really garner much, if any, attention.

But then, when you need it, it goes like ..... well .... something pretty damn quick.

Also, it's not that obvious, from the exhaust note, that it's a quick car. And the styling is distinctly understated, so unless you're interested in cars, not really at all overt.

But then, hit the loud pedal and that mild, restrained exhaust note changes to a very meaningful snarl.

    It's very definitely schizophrenic.

Ha ha ha, you loser, imagine coming on here and pretending not to care.

I really like your links too because why should you care about such inanimate objects like an ID card, and why should you be bothered by house prices there is no point having one because you will get attached to it.

I'm glad to hear it - I agree it's definately possible to enjoy a car and still drive it safely and with other road users in mind.

Today it was Mercedes drivers that were the bane of my drive - again just a generalisation But all the idiot drivers who were swerving around lanes and undertaking just to gain an additional 10 metres when we're all coming up to queued traffic were in mercs

I'm sure most of these people are perfectly normal, respectful people, I just don't understand why as soon as they get in a car some people seem to loose it.

Why do people sit in the middle lane causing traffic build up for no reason?
Why do people not leave sufficient braking distance?
Why do people not indicate correctly around roundabouts?
Why do people carry on using mobile phones while driving?
Why do people speed through roadwork areas while there are quite obviously workers in the road?
Why do people drive at 40 in 30mph areas and then drive at 40 in derestricted areas afterwards?

I just don't get it - there's nothing they're really gaining from it.
