It is fairly futureproof really. Could probably install vistaaaa on it, the average user, that shops at places like Currys (and I can say that they generally are just average =P ) and PCWorld wont be looking for the latest fastest thing. Most people will be happy if things like Word, media player, powerDVD, nero and the internet will work, of which something like that is capable of.

To most of the power users here though, it is just garbage.

The problem is, as was said earlier, it depends on your definition of future proof. Compliants to ASA will be shot down as there is no real definition to the term, so it can be interpreted any way.

Unfortunatly, this means it can be mis-interpreted. Someone could buy it thinking that it'll be fine in 4 years time. Sadly for them, in 4 years, it just won't cut it.

The minimum to make me happy that it's 'future-proof', is it doesn't need to have the bleeding edge tech inside it, but it needs to be upgradable to what we know is coming. Store bought PCs are not known for their upgradability. It doesn't have any PCI Express slots, and I'd bet the HDD is IDE too.

Advert seems ok to me, PC world is only claiming it's "futureproof" in relation to the female customers idiot boyfriend, who will be dumped sooner than the crap pc world is selling her.
    Thats not misleading is it?

Is that the advert where the girl knows more about PC's than her boyfriend who's picking up the mouse like it's a piece of alien technology?

    Seem's totally unrealistic to me

    just, LOL.

Yeah, its always been like that with them, when HT came out on the P4 they said pretty much the same thing, even when the focus changed to slower CPUs having similar performances as a faster CPU they still marketed the faster CPU and there for dear system as the better one. I REALLY cannot stand their adverts, I feel sorry for the people they mislead.

NOTHING in computing these days is future proof. Particularly a "Packard Bell Imedia 1569". When you look at the spec, yes the CPU is good, but only 1GB of RAM, a GeForce 7300se, no DVI, no PCI Express and a mere 200GB of HDD space.

It's even more surprising when you consider that we know quad-core is coming, as is Vista and DX10 graphics.

The last time I thought I was future proof was when I bought a 4GB hard drive to replace a 600MB one. I thought "I'll never fill this" !
They can get away with saying it's future proof though, it will run Vista... so according to them it's future proof.

true that, mind you alot of tunrkey pc makers dont get discs in when they order windows in bulk they would probably just get a load of licenses, so that doesnt make them a bad company but there pcs arent made with quality parts, and they are always so damned heavy lol
