Has anyone who got one of these had the same problems as have been reported in the US (allot of dead pixle's and light leakage)?

Also, how good are the blacks really? Im planning on this as my main screen in my bedroom for watching DVD's, and the one thing Ive never liked about TFT's is how they display black.

Me too. I used to worry about the "black" issue as well ala plasma, but i think the quality, less desk space taken up and the loveliness of it will be the reason for my purchase.

    Gimme...

Yeah, I heard the problems had been fixed, but also that they may not effect European models of the screen either. As ours are made at a different factory.

One thing Im worried about is gaming, and whether I can run games at high quality at the native resolution of this monitor (1680 * 1050). On my current display I run games at 1280 * 1024, with everything set to high. If I ran games at 1680 * 1050, but had to run them with everything set to medium, then that would be a bit of a step back.

There is a leakage in all the new models such as the widescreen listed above and my 2001FP (upper right corner), the black is not black! But its close enough and the display is amazing!

I bought one of the 2005fps on ebay from the dell reseller and quite annoyed with the backlight issue. He has agreed a repalcement though. Otherwise the monitor IS gorgeous for watching movies and playing games.
Halflife2 supports the resolution natively (I recently bought a 6800GT as well-just to play this beautiful game) Doom3 needs a few hacks but still very playable. the brightness and the high res took me quite a bit of getting used to.
It is a good inch shorter but a LOT wider than my 1901FP. I am seriously considering buying a second one now (but for all the faults that are presently an issue)- maybe I'll wait another month.

1280x1024 -> 1680x1050 isn't as big a leap, performance wise, as you might think. You'll have no problems (that you even think you would with the rig in your sig is shocking ), and for the games that won't let you run in widescreen you'll have to run 1280x1024 anyway.

well, i'm somewhat pissed at the price cut. I just have time under distance selling regs to send this back - I could do without this fannying about, but 100 quid is 100 quid...

You don't have to send it back. Explain to Dell loudly that you just bought it and they may credit your card with the difference. If not, send it back then.

On the above image, theres like a speaker thing extra at the bottom (this is on the dell site)

Is this removable, or is it another model or something??
