the Coolermaster iGreen Power 430W looks ok for that price
So does the FSP 400w for £32.49 details
Should be enough power for that system.

How much are you looking on for a case?
the Scan's 9006-C34 Midi Tower with 550W pPFC PSU at £58.69 looks intresting, have to check what make that PSU is though.

    EDIT:
or the Antec NSK4400 ATX MiniTower, inc Hi-Efficiency 380W ATX12v v2.0 that psu should be fine, although as a minitower space might be a bit tight.

Antec NSK6500 uATX/ATX Super Mid Tower, has Hi-Efficiency 430W ATX12v v2.0 PSU £61.09 miditower version size shouldn't be an issue.

Got that case and love it. Unless your into heavy modding and cooling then this should be more than adequate.

Forget what I said about that Scan case, I've just found out it's from ColorsIT
Makers of cheap cases and cheap and nasty PSU's.

Lol, I agree, I've had some bad experiences with colorit psu's (i think they are known as atrix psu's).

I think I will stick with the antec case, I've read some good reviews about it, and the psu that comes with it looks pretty decent.

Could you tell me what is the exact model number of the psu included in your antec case? I read somewhere that its an Antec NeoHE 430.

    Cheers

All branded PSUs should be good enough for your needs. Remember not to buy ????? Value case along with the built in PSU. X1600/7600 or below VGA will run fine on decent 350W. X1950/79xx will be ok with 450W. Crossfire or SLI 600W or better.

Its not a NeoHE. Antec just say its an exclusive supply for these cases so I couldnt even begin to hazard a guess as to what the based it on. Its called and SU-430 on their site if you need to order one http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=96500

    Re: Psu Exploded!!!!

Wow , sorry to hear about this. Tough break. Well something simmilar happened to me, a frined came to me and said, "The PSU is in my computer" So on the way home I picked up a new PSU from CompUSA. (Used to work as a upgrades supervisor there) Anyway , took the PSU into this gals home and started to look around at the computer, she had told me the screen was dark and the power went off on it. I opened the case up and switched it on. ZAP! POP! FIRE ON THE HARD DRIVE! FIRE ON THE HARD DRIVE!, PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON WITH THE PRITTY WHITE SMOKE! actual flames coming from one of the poor hardrives! and it took out the drive above it too! So I shut it down, took it home with me and threw it on the bench. Looks like the PSU survived, but nothing else.

Took out 2 hard drives, looked around on the mother board, some chips had actually melted! GOOD GOD! I thought... Must have gotten hit by lightnigh. This gal had told me that there was a pritty good storm the other night.

The short end of this long story is , the customer was not a power user and a good friend of mine, threw another friend who wanted to get rid of an old E-machine rig , I ploped an old E-machine mother board back into this gals case, gave her some memory , a couple new hard drives and off it went back to her place. Not that she lost much data, but she was happy to get a computer back..

The other real problems I had with PSU's , in a few months I saw more power supplies then I had ever in the past. Something called a DEER power suply. Green , like the John Deer tracktors, but I don't think its the same company. Gawd did I see alot of them things, they must have had a bad run of them or something.

Good luck! Sucks to fry components and smell the burning solder...

    Re: Psu Exploded!!!!

yup i definitely agree with ezcool being the new q-tec.. i just bought a new mobo, cpu, graphics & memory.. plugged it all in (which i have done thousands of times before when building pc's)

switched on with my ezcool 550 psu, a slight fizzle, a strong smell, and oh my god (not my exact words lol), the good news is the pc is still working, with the same ezcool psu.. the bad news is that the 3.3volt line is now kicking 4.08 volts out (yeah so much for over voltage protection EZCOOL).

i have a very strong suspicion when i get my new PSU i'll find out that the ezcool has damaged my brand new mobo. (just ordered a 550W Xclio Greatpower Modular SLi U PSU from scan) please tell me that PSU is better than ezcool.. lol

i couldn't afford a dearer PSU. maybe a month or 2 i will invest in a very very good PSU. but i need this as an emergency as i don't want to keep running my PC with 4.08 volts into the 3.3volt line.

i think the ezcool has took the PCI slots & onboard LAN out on the asus m2a-mvp mobo, as no cards will install or detect & the marvell miniport ethernet will not detect in windows either. but everything else seems to work ok.

so it maybe that i will have to fork out for yet another new mobo. I'll check the warranty on the ezcool PSU, i think it should still be under warranty, but not sure, and i certainly don't hold much hope of ezcool refunding me (they could easily say that because it wasn't installed by what they consider a competent computer technician, then i have no come backs) even tho i've worked with PC's since the 8086 days. and still work with computers today.

as for other power supplies.. lol

a few years ago i had a couple of very heavy & very expensive UPS, not like the ones you see today.. these were very large & made of steel with lots of lead acid batteries inside & lots of capacitors and 2 large torroidal transformers. now this day i was removing the old lead acid batteries because 1 of the supplies had stopped working, so i put some new batteries inside, powered up, and left them to charge for a while.. came back and they seemed to be working fine, so i leaned over to switch off at the socket so i could put the case back on, and just as i lent over the top of them i heard a huge bang.. yes it was like i had fired a gun. then the room was filled with smoke, with lots of pieces of what looked like foil floating everywhere.. when the smoke cleared after a few seconds.. there was a huge hole in my bedroom ceiling where the top off 1 of the capacitors had literally blown right off and shot upwards through the ceiling into the loft. now imagine if it had done that just a fraction of a second later when my head would have been right over it.. needless to say i was pretty lucky that day..

Made by CWT who are of questionable quality. They used to make all of Antec's PSUs and Antec's reputation is now mud as a result. Antec now use Seasonic.

Interestingly Corsair (that everyone seems to rave about these days) have gone from using Seasonic to CWT. Perhaps they also wanted a reputation like mud in the PSU arena for the sake of a few $ profit?

    Re: Psu Exploded!!!!

Hey, its not only low end psu's that explode - I was building a high end pc for a good mate of mine a year or so ago, and we'd just been out and picked up a 500w seasonic psu - not a cheap unit at the time, and had very good reviews.

We hooked it up, switched it on and sparks flew a good 7-8inches out of the back and damn near took my eye out...them it smoked like hell. We took it back to overclockers (theyre just down the road, they never refuse a return when you go into the store and make a fuss) and got it exchanged for a different make
