Game controller problems?? Please Help??

Hi, i was wondering if anyone knew of a way in which i could make button 1 on my gamepad switch to another button, so everytime i press say button 1 it acts as pressing button 4 for example?? In other words can button 1=button 4 and button 2= button 3 etc. The reason is that there is this game where the controls can't be changed and my gamepad doesnt suit the game's control layout. I got this one program called gametrick and it made the buttons on my controller act as if i was pressing down buttons on the keyboard. Sadly as useful as this program is it doesnt suit my problem. I just need to switch the buttons around on my controller. Is there any program that can do this for me?? Ive searched everywhere with no luck. Please help me!!

Way outside my direct experience, but does the software (if any) that came with teh pad allow you to remap keys?

It would help if you posted what make and model the gamepad is, the OS you are using and the game involved, then anyone with direct experience with the problem may be able to help you better.

can you not remap the buttons in Control Panel->Games Controllers

? i'm sure thats what i did the last time i used a gamepad.. but that was a good 7+ years ago!

Nah i basically got a ps to pc convertor so i use ps2 controllers with the pc. All it came with were drivers. I'm using Windows Vista and the game is NHL 08. BTW i can't remap the buttons in the game or with control panel.

Please help I own a PS3 2.4Ghz Wireless Controller which I bought from argos but the problem is that my buttons are switched around. for example o is x, x is sqaure and sqaure is o, my PS 'home' button does not work and when I connect the controll the LED's flash but not 1 of them stays litten i need help becasue my friend has the same controller as mine and he sasy everything works normally. HELP
