Cannot download

I cannot download any files . Every time the file downloads it appears on the desktop for a split second then dissapears. I have vista x64 and use NOD 32 . I have tried a system restore but its still the same. I have tried saving to other locations but nothing seems to work. Any ideas???

Is this just one file your trying to download or is it everything you try and download?

Everything. Only thing that has downloaded is a jpeg. you see the icon on the desktop then just as it gets to 100% its gone . I also tried running apps from the download instead of saving but the app just doesnt start and disappears.

do you have anything else such as a standalone download manager or torrent, program that you could try and download from, to see if the problem is definatly IE7

Dont use anything like that. IM going to try opera when i can get it downloaded from the wifes laptop tomorrow

try clearing your temp files...

I clear it every shutdown along with cookies using tracks eraser

Seems to be explorer. I have used IE7 64 and it downloads . My next problem is how to repair explorer as when you try to re install it Vista says its not compatible.

why not use firefox 3 instead?

Something similar on a users vista laptop last week, ie7 running like a dog. ran in "no-addons" mode and was fine.

try doing tools -> internet options -> advanced -> reset

Tried it with no add ons and also tried returning to default setting but no joy. I have used firefox before its just when you use a browser for so long you get used to it. I should just do a complete rebuild of my OS its had a hard life ;0)

firefox 3 is quite alot like IE7... i havn't liked the previous FF's but this one is nice to use, and fells just like IE7....

There's always the option of using a download manager (FlashGet is a good free one) to catch downloads

using Firefox just now but some little things arent the same . I know this will change once I get used to it . I just neede to be able to download headers for newsgroups but IE wasnt even doing that . Firefox will do till I clean my OS and reinstall.
